You know the sad truth? If today Britain loses, and if next match Slovenia draws and Algeria wins, Algeria and Slovenia go onward. Way to go Slovenia : let's win by committing fouls in the area! (draw more likely)

We don't have your predictions in the Pool. Come on, join us there. There are plenty points for anyone entering now to win the big priiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiize. Just don't ask me what it is!

Heh, I have zero knowledge of the teams and the players, except the Dutch. In fact, I hate football (and other sports), except during European/World Cups :D.

But oh well, maybe my female intuition will help me. *cough*

I can actually see England beating Algeria....USA beating Algeria and Slovenia and England drawing...

it will all come down to who scores the most goals against the whipping boys of Algeria....

If anyone's interested, the third eighth finals poll is up :

Also, I had to delay the closure of the first eighth finals because of a draw. Any new voters would be very appreciated :

I've been impressed by the USA team so far. I thought they'd be clobbered in their matches, but they have amazing resilience and especially an excellent mentality that most of the big teams seem to lack.

I hope they get through to the next round.

They will, no fear for that. And besides, Slovenia robbed their victory here... Ref more likely, but it was anti-sportive to say the least.

That ref must've been on some kind of super crack. There were a lot of bad calls, and not just on America. Overall though it was a good game.

True I guess. Much better than Algeria - Slovenia or England - USA. Hope Algeria - England will be as interesting.

Ref's mistakes apart it's good that the quality of the games have been improving since the start of 2nd round.

James is in goal for England tonight according to sky sports news. Barry back in midfield for Milner too. Heskey stays in.

Thats a shame, thats just killed Green's international chances....

And lets face it, how many balls ups has James made over the years?

True but I would have put him in as first choice from the beginning. Green will never live that down unfortunately. I have to pop down to my mates for a while I hope to make it back in time for the match.

If the coach does that to Green, he should punch Capello in the nose! You don't put a player's rep to the lame (I meantg mud, lama in portuguese =) because of ONE mistake. And Green saved England too. He saved a sure goal ball that then went to the crossbar. Doesn't it count for something?

Go Algeria!!

Nothing against England, but USA needs for them to lose

But yeah, taking Green out for one mistake seems harsh.

Guess not Rage...

He should have stuck faith with Green though, his confidence gonna be shot now, so he made an error...so what....James has made ten times more....

They did so well at the Confederations Cup last year! They beat Spain fair and square! And gave a Brazil a hell of a difficult game with a 2x0 lead that Brazil was lucky to overcome. And lots of fans in South Africa heh? Fully dressed in the World Cup spirit. And they didn't look only latinos there. Guess Americans like football after all, only most don't know it, yet!

I do hope that the USA team advances and do well on the knockouts.

What he's doing is crazy, I heard that he announced Englands first keeper just hours before the 1st match and now after one mistake he passes him.. way to show you have confidence in your team...
