I'm not sure what's causing this, but I'm having issues with character's faces being almost completely in shadow during quite a few conversations and cutscenes.  Usually affects Shepard, but occasionally affects other characters in the conversation/cutscene.

For the record, I'm running patch v1.01, I'm on WinXP SP3, all of my drivers are up to date, and all of that jazz.

On the ME2 configuration utility, under "video," I have the following settings:

High Quality Bloom:  On

Film Grain:  Off

Motion Blur:  Off

Dynamic Shadows:  On

Light Environment Shadows:  On

Number of Cinematic Lights:  3 (more on this below)

Use Spherical Harmonic Lighting:  On

Anisotropic Filtering: Default

I was messing with Cinematic Lights to see if this would correct the problem.  It had been on "Default," and when I changed it to 3, the shadows improved, but it's still much darker than videos I've seen of the same scene online.  In the online videos, everyone in a conversation would be well lit, but Shepard, not so much.

An example:  During Jack's recruitment, when you first board the prison ship, there's a conversation with the guards.  Before I messed with the cinematic lighting, all of my squad was in total shadow.  I could barely make out Shep's mouth movements during his lines.  I don't have a save there, however, so I can't go back and see if what I've done has improved that, but another example is talking to Miranda in her office.  Her face is always well lit, but Shep's face was always in near-total shadow.  Changing the lighting like I did improved Shep's shadow cover, but like I said before, it's still much darker than videos I've seen of the same conversation.

What am I doing wrong?  Besides the shadows, the game runs smoothly, and I have no other graphics glitches or slowdowns or anything of the sort.

Thanks for any help you can give.

No one's had this issue, or has any ideas on how to fix it?

I've read about this issue before but I can't remember any possible fix.

Edit: Maybe you should take a look here: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/106/index/797393

The only time I recall seeing this, the poster hadn't set their Cinematic Light passes to 3, and doing so resolved it. :/

I can only recommend experimenting. E.g. turning Motion blur on, or Dynamic Shadows off.
