I don't like when my "boss" is sending me into obvious traps while he's sitting in his little chair, getting drunk. Although, the drinking explains a lot.
That mission really was handled badly, obviously you were always going to have to go there, it was dumb of TIM to not be up front with you. It gave people way more ammunition than they needed to hate him even more, although that could have been the intent on Bioware's part.
