I think Thane is a pretty cool guy. eh assassins people and doesnt afraid of anything.

I find him useless in combat, and everytime I went in to talk to him my finger started twitching towards the skip button. I dunno, it's a cool idea in principle that he turns out to be the opposite of what you expect when you go off to recruit a "master assassin", but it just doesn't work for me. The guy's killed probably hundreds of people in cold blood, has nothing to offer as an excuse except some spiritual mumbo-jumbo about the mind and the body, and now I'm supposed to feel sorry for him because he's got terminal space fish cancer and his uppity son hates him? Bleh.

I like Thane. In fact, he's my...6th favourite squadmate.

He's not hated at all. His supporters just tend to congregate in a private group.

I mean, I use him a lot in combat, and his recruitment and loyalty missions were fun -- I just don't like his character. The whole spiritual assassin thing doesn't make sense. He kills "bad" people, prays for forgiveness, then goes right on killing again. If he really felt that bad about it, then he'd stop assassinating people.

If you pay attention while talking to him you'd understand why he's so calm about it.

That said, I like Thane. He's pretty cool, plus he has warp.

Shepard: "His stupid flashbacks thinly veil empty threats. He sits alone in life
support and wonders why no one likes him. He struggles to breathe
sometimes, but no one cares." *walks out*



Although, to be fair, it was not Gabey5 who actually came up with this funny parody, but a user from the Gamefaqs boards whom he did not credit. Just getting that out there.



That said, I don't HATE Thane, per se.
 
I think he's a useful person to have aboard and he's moderately useful in the suicide mission, but he's definitely not as impressive as Garrus.

I do not mind thane.....I used to hate him before the game came out because of the 3646437364 threads made by fangirls about how hot he was and had the alpha-dog-urge to bust a few caps in his knees and groin just to remind him who the bigger dog is but when the game came out I grew to like his phylosophical approach and all...it helped that he was not half the cocky jackass he appeared to be in his reveal trailer....

I think this is the reason some dudes still hate him.

I think he's a real character. From his seriousness, to his good romance, to his rather entertaining mission (because it has a very short interragation.)

His flashbacks are annoying, especially if you accidently repeat conversation, but i enjoyed the loyalty quest and like his character and background.

I think he is rather attractive too... for an amphibian alien.

De-lurking to agree with Catt.  I tried and tried to warm up to Jacob's character.  Just couldn't do it.  Not after he was basically indifferent to the attrocities his father committed.

I like Thane in that he, like Samara, is older than most of the rest of the crew, and that adds a bit of variety to how the different squaddies feel about life in general.

Thane is one of my favorite characters. Despite his somewhat annoying flashbacks and whatever else.



We pick up Thane because he'll be cheap to hire, he's very talented at what he does, and he'll be willing to join up for the cause.
