Hm, I thought quite the opposite. I stopped playing The Witcher somewhere in swamp, where you have to summon a thunderstorm and place is infested with cheaply hard to kill red talons, cocatrixes or whatever the name.

I stopped playing The Witcher because it was boring, incredibly boring. At first all mature language and hookers (and ****able driads/witches) was fun, but it fails in so many aspects... Combat is horrible, alchemy is boring and interface is extremely clunky.

Dragon Age is better in every aspect. At least that's how I feel. I've played through it several times, and yet to get bored.

Dragon age has one good thing. Good character interaction....The story was nothing special.

I've not played The Witcher since I had several friends describe it as a "Single Player MMORPG". Profanity and prostitute witches do not make a game mature. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that they merely cement it as an immature title.

You cant customise your character in the Witcher, right?

Agreed, The Witcher > DAO. Much more mature and dark than DAO

There's REAL consequences, unlike BioWare games where "consequences"==emails/epilogue texts

There's really hard choices and there's never a right choice, unlike BioWare games

Right, now my turn to troll.

I think that the original Witcher(Wiedzmin) books were badass. Game... well not so much. Combat system was frustrating and before EE the inventory was a NIGHTMARE. I also don't like the fact that I have to play a predefined character. Geralt should have stayed in the books and all that amnesia crap...lol. Story unfolds kinda slow but no way as awesome as in Sapkowski's books, there was simply no memorable character like Cahir or Milwa. I've even forgot the main baddie's name, duh.

And mature you say? I don't consider a bunch of skinheads saying "my mother sucked dwarf ****" as mature. Only little punks like my cousin actually think that stuff like that is c00l and l33tzors. And that's exactly where your credibility ends for me.
And those "Sex cards"? Laughable at best. Sounds kinda opposite of mature.

Now there are a lot of positive points of course, but I won't spam these forums with my fanboyism stuff.

Somebody who prefers wh*res, sex, guts, and lot of beheading and insults or just a more action gameplay will of course get frustrated by the combat system or amount of dialogue in Bioware games.

EDIT: Oh, wait a minute you are the same JSS guy that keeps trolling the forums with the anti-Dragon Age thing.

Much better world, better atmosphere, worse gameplay and a lot of little drawbacks caused by lack of experience.

A matter of taste.

Witcher has the "Dark" atmosphere and a "Dark" plot (much more than ME2). I <3 Witcher.

People talking about rough language and sex scenes as a means to make a game more mature/immature have clearly not played The witcher and thus their opinions are worth less.

There are far better points to understand why The Witcher is the atmospheric and why DA pales in comparison as a kind of Lord of the Rings - Red Edition. There is real racism to be found in the Witcher's universe, with all the nasty consequences. Denerim's alienage is looking like a kindergarden compared to what elves and dwarves have to endure in The Witcher. War is not glorious like in Ferelden but ugly business. All in all there is no place for heroes, not even the witchers are. Nearly every decision is no simple black and white stuff but all of the consequences make you feel bad. The closes thing in DA are the quests around the next king in Orzammar and maybe the part about the Dalish and the werewolves.

This is not to say the The Witcher is the better game. It is different but more amture than many people in this topic said, showing there lacking knowledge. Given how cheap the game is you should definitely try it out and play the first two chapters, even if only to experience a completely different world than what BioWare presents as "dark".

Eventhough it is a "fantacy world", it is much realistic fantacy world. One of the best RPG I have played recently and it is "unique" one.

When I´m playing Witcher I like Witcher better.

When I´m playing DAO I like DAO better.

Actually I think both are good games, and both get boring when yu play them too often.

However, the sex cards you get are a definite win for the Witcher. You REALLY should have the chance to collect cards with soft-porn of the people you [had sex with] in every game. I got ALL in Witcher, btw.

Owned, right?

[no swearing, please.]

Sorry, Stanley. Didn´t think the f-word counts as swearing if it´s used to describe the activity^^

It is darker.

Sex, swearing, and ultra-detailed misery do not a mature story make.

It makes a more mature story in the meaning of more realistic.

Btw, is anyone else appalled by the world "mature"? It always makes me think of porn with "mature women", and THAT, again, makes me :sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick:

QFT

Even without blood & bewbz The Witcher would be a really dark game.

I liked the Witcher a lot to start with, but became bored with it and just about struggled to the finish line.

The storyline was good, at least to start, and it had a great sense of atmosphere and some excellent quests. But I felt the game tapered off, and there wasnt much to see/do once you entered the final levels (city on fire and swamp), and the ending was poor I felt.

And throughout there were annoyances. The combat was bad, interface clunky, map hopeless, lack of customisation criminal and having zero party members to interract with didnt help.

I much preferred Dragon Age.

I thought The Witcher was a great game. I thought the SE bonus was superb and considered it the best package I brought of 08. CD Projekt are a publisher I look fondly on, even more so with their recent work with good old games.

But it's not anywhere close to being as good of a game as Dragon Age. Graphically I consider Dragon Age better if only because it feels more atmospheric to me, the voice acting is better, and even the gameplay is in my opinion better. It's hard for me to describe Dragon Age up against the Witcher without making the latter sound awful. They are both great games but Dragon Age takes the lead.
