Hehehe   but to each their own.    IF this is the prediction for the future of Dragon Age,  then I will be done,  when it becomes fact..thats all.

So Bioware loses ONE fan.....ah well. :)   Thats the way the cookie bounces.

bleh I was referring to the general opinion of favoring a Western studio, but anyway, so your franchise gets ONE spin-off on a medium that you happen have an unjustified dislike for, and you drop the entire franchise?

yeah. I hope you're just taking the troll-by-bewildering route and not actually serious with that. If you are, then BioWare won't be losing much.

and LOL @ the implication that only the natives of a country should like that country's products.. <_<

Grim.

HOW do you KNOW ...that its ONE spin-off?   Do you know that....do I know that?   I'm taking a wait and see attitude here,  but I already know what I like and I don't like.

It all depends which way the cards fall...and evidently one of the CEOs is ALREADY crowing about some "NEW" graphics coming up.....we'll see what he means by that. :P

Gee whiz...I thought that all customers mattered to Bioware,  is my money worth less than yours? :)     And implication of what?

No implication, that is YOUR personal bias sticking out there,   I never said any such thing ..AT ALL.

I am attempting to be civil,   heh you aren't ...this anime stuff must be really near and dear to your heart,  so much so that you can't seem to see or hear another point of view.     You have assumed much about me from your responses to me,  and yet you can't seem to accept what I am ACTUALLY SAYING.     Can you? :)

I am responding to you with my own brand of sense of humour.     Still am :)

Humor and sarcasm tend to fail in written form.
People often take things I say as being far more aggressive then I mean when I try to "sound" sarcastic, so perhaps that's the issue.

On the main point you seem sure that the portrayal will differ in anime form.  But do you have any reason to think it will be different than the game or Wardens fall (which is far more cinematic and dark than the game cutscenes), with the exception of the odd opening Batman gotham knights matched up to the source material quite well, halo had one intentionally over the top segment and the rest was fairly contestant, and the animatrix matched the movies in the places it should.  We don't know anything yet if bioware says "hey make it like a shoen anime" then you could get all the big eyes and yelling.  But that's not likely to happen and the end result will likely be representative of the source material.

And in regards to the people who think it "easternized" you don't seem to be familiar with anime at all.  Many are very "western" (I use these terms subjectively) in subject matter, setting, style, and story.  So being as they are working off a western type world the fear they will daoise it or call the archdemon a dragon is silly.  Also consider how they adapt their anime from comic or video game for that matter they tend to be far closer to the source material than American movies or cartoons so don't really think anybody should be too worried.

That is of course unless this is like marvels manga verse and they bioware wants it to reflect Japanese tropes and stereotypes, which again I highly doubt.

Sorry I never get "all big eyes and yelling" :) not my style. lol

I am familiar with what I have seen on the internet...haven't been tempted to follow it or get involved. As I have said before cartoons/anime and all that stuff doesn't appeal to me. Simple statement.

I am voicing my opinion and it seems a few of you here are attempting to either tell me I don't know what I like and don't like, or that my opinion is invalid, or that I should change my opinion. :D

Not going to happen.

Anyways, I will leave you all in peace, obviously an opposing opinion is not wanted here for fear that perhaps an opposing opinion might make you think of both sides of the question? Who knows.

My last comment is: I LIKE Dragon Age graphics the way they are portrayed now. If suddenly in the future...anime becomes the graphics of choice at Bioware, then I will lose interest. Basically all I am saying, all I have been trying to say ..in this thread.

Now, rather than beat it to death, I'm going to leave. Feel free to attempt to change my mind about anime any old time...but my opinion remains the same.

Have fun :)

I didn't say that you don't know what you like or anything about your opinion, just that your fears were not likely to come to fruition.  And based on this comment and previous ones I would say based on what you have seen in passing.
People may of been short with you but don't seem to have been all that open to the possibility that what your think of as anime style is off and that the movie will very likely be nothing like what seem to be expecting.

Edit

The new graphics they are talking about was mentioned months ago and they said they were going to improve them not completely change their style.  Why you would think that just because they ae having a direct to video anime tie in that they would change their visual style into an anime thing baffles me.

I'm no big fan of anime, but perhaps I'm not to judge, seeing as I haven't seen much. It can turn out to be good. Then again, it might be ****. I just hope it won't stray too far from the visual aspects of the game, and that it will stay true to established lore.

And to Mr. Gaider, if you happen to be reading this: loved your books, keep up the good work.

Did this game even launch in Japan? Why would they make a Japanese style cartoon for a Western RPG?

Also, as some have mentioned... why not try and make a movie or series with the in-game graphics? Warden's Fall has proven that the result can be quite awesome. Perhaps with a real budget and proper voice actors?

A lot of American toons on TV right now are pretty much inspired and influenced by anime styles, hell even Dragon Age's own CGI trailers incorporate some anime'ish vibes. It's not just a Japan-specific thing anymore, not been for a long time.

Just because they use less pop music doesn't make the music from western cartoons any worse.  The theme with the opening credits were pretty much the best part of this movie www.youtube.com/watch

hahah when most anime soundtracks aren't even pop music. All I heard in that video was some generic wannabe-epic orchestra crap that you hear in 90% of all Hollywood trash and soon forget. Besides, BTW, did you even LOOK at those character designs and the embarrassingly-stiff animation in the video you linked?? Yeah.. that sequence definitely looked like the "best" that movie could've gotten. Thanks for championing the cause of Western animation :D

THIS alone stomps all over the best opening any American toon may have ever had.

and this shows how different they can be. Watch and learn. but it's OK, your pre-determined spite will still be able to nitpick something wrong.

Too bad that's not what I said at all.  I like anime, I was just saying proclaiming their music better because they even use pop artists (which is what you said, tongue in cheek or not) wasn't fair.  Whatever, this anime vs western cartoon argument is dumb.  Anyone who proclaims the other crap hasn't watched enough.  Any comments on the rest of my post or do people want to rage some more.

Why am I seeing so many posts of people worried that we are going to see a big-eyed Warden in the movie?

Has no one even bothered to look at a range of anime out there? Thats only one style of anime, not the only style.

I don't understand why there's even a debate or concern over the style. It's going to be along the lines of Dante's Inferno and Dead Space, two other EA game to anime projects, in terms of art style. Honestly you should be more worried about it being crap overall as those two projects were rather then what specific style of anime will be used and which one is better.

I've always been puzzled what about anime that makes its haters so God awful stupid to think that they're going to end up with Sailor Moon. I know my own reasons for not liking (most) anime anymore. Then again, I have some history watching anime to know they can be very good. But,  the trollish mentality of a troglodyte plus the willful ignorance makes me wonder what creator allowed them to congeal into their form.

Actually watching an anime to acquire an informed opinion about the subject can usually take anywhere between 22 and 100 minutes. Making embarrassingly ignorant generalizations on the other hand takes only a few seconds!:P

Or, some people just don't like anime. As though someone not liking a particular art style somehow makes them 'haters' or 'ignorant'. Not every anime fan is a weeaboo. I'm  very familiar with it, and I hate most of it. I'll even say 'hate'. That's a strong term. I'd rather attempt to beat a rabid badger back into its hole with my wedding tackle than watch Oh! My Goddess! There's some good anime. I like the stories of Cowboy Bebop. Mostly though I don't like it.

I'll probably watch the anime on netflix though, because I like Dragon Age. I seriously don't think they're going to redo Dragon Age in anime fashion. Want to talk about taking a very successful franchise and throwing it into a niche market that doesn't particularly match the actual game franchise.

I'd go see a DA anime, though I'd be more likely to go out of my way to see a movie that continued using the Sacred Ashes CGI.

There's a difference between "I don't like anime" and "Anime is for ****s and weaboos." The former I can respect. I don't watch anime anymore. I can't muster the strength to watch Ergo Proxy or Monster. The latter I'd just tell you to shut up. I don't expect haters to watch 100 hours worth of anime, but be respectful about your opinion or would they kindly shut the hell up. Don't expect to be taken seriously if you're going to see a Miyazaki film or Jin-Roh and fah-lamingly overreact as if it were Inuyasha.

Agreed we were being glib but our insults were intended toward the more extreme posters who refuse to even acknowledge the possibility that anime is something other than "big eyes and weird hair".

But what's wrong with monster and ergo proxy? Those are two of the best series made in the last five years.
