I wonder how much of the time will be spent with the Archdemon and the Warden glowing brightly and growling at one another?

I lol'd.  Ser Pounce-a-Lot indeed.

In terms of animation...  hope it's quality animation.  Over the top animated fights is fun to watch, but if done properly.  Like this:

I don't mind anime; but didn't Bioware say that Final Fantasy isn't a real RPG? And didn't Bioware also say that they wanted to keep the sword play as real as possible?

Choosing the anime route will probably automatically get you those unrealistic sword fights.

Plus all your mages will be chantings with their index fingers pointing up with/or without talismans, and it will have something to do with the four Chinese gods:

Seiryuu to the East
Suzaku to the South
Byakko to the West
Genbu to the North

Then you get to see those typical magical circles with a giant star in the middle of it.

Or they could just spout off Latin phrases like Harry Potter. But you're still going to get those magical circles.

None of it?

I realize the only anime you've ever seen is meant for adolescent boys and televised in the US, so your misconception is excusable.

Most of the people who are whining about this would be surprised to learn the actual breadth of the japanese animation industry in both style and content.

No way! Anime can be so much more than that!

A Dragon Age anime? Oh, mother.........

I'd love to go and pay to see Warden's Fall in cinemas instead!

Warden's Fall is good, even if some of the timing is off.

Not to mention the ensuing humor of the Japanese trouble with pronouncing the western letter "L."

uhhhh wow. Really? :?

That has more to do the fact that the letter being the closest to "R" in the Japanese syllabary writing system, is actually a phoneme between "R" and "L" and may be spoken as either, than an actual "trouble" with pronouncing "L," just as there're no letters in the English Alphabet to denote many of the common sounds from other languages.

As a rule of thumb, when the Japanese letter "R" is included in spellings of foreign words, it's assumed to be read as "L," and that's what the voice-actors do when reading their scripts. That doesn't mean the Japanese are "unable" to pronounce "L" any more than the Americans are unable to pronounce most English words correctly.

The same could be said about your comments.  besides the androgynous hair parts.

If you need pictures of unrealistically beefy men in skin-hugging tights to aid with your perceptions of masculinity, then I'm sure the "Western style" will help fill that void. Hell, there's some African-American superheroes too, so all the better huh? :D

^ This make you wet? That could easily be a Gray Warden if you swap the gun out with a crossbow.

Image IPB
or is it better when they pretend to be various animals instead?

Too lazy to Google up more, but you get the idea.

Anime can cover a lot of ground in style: A cute bright colors all the way to very dark, realist RL models.

It is a different game world so look past the guns and cars -- it is both an Anime and CG

*facepalm*

Oh yeah, because when you have a problem with eyeliner wearing samurai with the faces of twelve year olds being presented as bad asses, you obviously have unrealistic conceptions of masculinity.

Noooh! Theres enough anime out there and now Bioware adds to the bunch :crying:
It better be good anime, and not some crap designed to milk money out of fans. The only anime i've ever watched - and enjoyed, mind you - is Hayao Miyazaki's movies. Well, thats more because of the story than anything else.
Other than that I wish anime would burn in hell. BURN in hell! :(:(

I'd rather see a REAL movie of Dragon Age and not some ****** anime. I'd rather see DREAMWORKS make a movie of Dragon Age than watch animations whose mouths only use 2 shapes when they talk and who don't have any realistic movement patterns <_< I'd rather see BOLLYWOOD make a Dragon Age movie than some stupid anime-company! I'd rather have STORM STUDIOS make the movie! I'd rather have Bioware make the movie in the TOOLSET than have Dragon Age ruined by anime!

It is true that not all anime is good, just as not all western cartoons are not good either.

I have to laugh. I was just thinking, what topic will Fans / players of Bioware will over act more -- anime or dragon age MMO like wow (I don't want that, but a different model, but that is another topic...)

For all those who want a CGI film...

CGI is way more expensive than anime. BW would have to pay around 200 million just to have a 1hr 15 min film which would cost around 2/3's less when you do with anime. CGI requires people to wear stupid suits with fluorescent balls stuck on them and moving around for 10 hrs a day. Then there are the animators, programmers, and designers and this would all add to cost and don't get me started on licensing fees. Anime would require less staff to work on, plus this a marketing ploy to bring more people to DA franchise. So I wasn't really surprised. I just hope it is good and the story is from the writers of DA.

And that's why you don't see any cg films. Oh, wait...

Forgetting anime, I've probably only ever seen one animated fight scene that I liked, this, and it's hardly a style that suits the DA I know, but who's to say they'll use anything more than the setting of the game to make their story. Anyway, I've never actually seen movie adaptation of a game that I liked, most games made about movies are pretty shocking, too, the two should just leave eachother alone...

That is a cool intro... That is still CG and we still have the cost problem... but it was cool anyways, but they might have to tone down the battle a little to make more interesting  to the large group of fans

Anime can pull the medieval fantasy look very well, just look at Berserk
