Ahhhh... that's different. If the packaging for the PS3 said it was a DVD not a Blu Ray disc than they screwed up and need to fix it.

I just looked at the PS3 collector's edition packaging just now, and it says "Bonus Collector's Edition Blu-ray with:" and the music is listed under there.

It would be nice for them to send a download link or something to those who registered the collector's edition, though, but clearly can't listen to the music.

ummm... I bought mine on launch day and on back of the box says- clearly- Blu Ray Bonus Disk. I don't know where you're getting DVD from, but mine says as clear as day "Blu Ray Bonus Disk", not DVD Bonus Disk. I'm in the USA if that makes a difference.

My UK version says DVD on the back - perhaps it's a difference in the packaging in regions?

they can't just post it for download because then everyone will have it... the people that paid extra for collectors edition will be pissed at that solution too.

That would be stupid.  If you paid for something, and you get it, you should be content with that.

If you don't pay for something, but you do get it, that's also pretty nifty.

But no one gets shafted.  No one missed out on anything.  No one fails to get what they paid for.  There's no reason for anyone to be upset about the content being freely released.

Your assertion makes no sense.

It makes perfect sense.  Why should I pay EA an extra $20 for bonus content only to have a portion of that content made freely available to everyone three weeks later?  Exclusive content is exclusive, and I expect it to remain that way for at least a few months.

So the PS3 CE version has soundtracks on the Blu-ray. Oh well, technologies are getting better as time goes and I'm sure people can afford a new computer with Blu-ray drives or at least buy an external BR drive soon.

This... well, I would considered this as a minor problem. My advice is, if you like the game, keep it and don't sell it. If you have a steady job and a steady computer, you can afford external BR drives nowadays. If not, and if you're impatience, well, this is internet - what it is for other than porn?

Because you don't know it's going to be freely available later, and you're unwilling to wait to find out.

As Mass Effect demonstrated, exclusivity is ephemeral.

How much you paid and what you got hanve't changed, so your opinion of the transaction can't change either.

Stop telling me what my opinion can and can't do.  My opinions on the transaction might not change, but my opinion of BioWare would change drastically if the collector's edition content was made free only a few weeks after I spent an extra $20 on it.  As it is, the price reduction on the EA Store is making me feel as though I shouldn't even pre-order another EA game.  This would seal the deal.

Honestly, you sound like a whiney child.  This was probably just a learning curve on PS3/BluRay releases, and it will simply be fixed on future releases.  Instead of being critical, I would suggest offer alternative methods of releasing the soundtrack.  I personally suggested as per the email link stated above that that either release the soundtrack from the web interface of the BluRay disk itself, or a download code from the Playstation Store.  I personally can't listen to the soundtrack as I have all Apple computers which can't play BluRay, and honestly suck as a gaming machine, even with Xeon processors, but I don't use computers for games.

All in all, my point is to help the developers, not just simply flame

Why doesn't EA just send out codes to those affected, like the codes you use to get Shale and the Blood Dragon armour? That way not just anyone can get their hands on the soundtrack and it's a one time use and then the PS3 owners will be happy. The only reason I bought the PS3 version is because my PC isn't up to spec for the game and I prefer to play RPGs on a console.

This is very frustrating, I only bought the collectors edition for the soundtrack!
