I hope it does well, but I really hope that the 2.11.2011 card isn't referring to this thing's release date.

Would it be so bad if it were referring to the anime film?  2/11/2011 is a little soon for a fully fledged, polished, and worthy sequel to Dragon Age.

I agree with the statement above
A new DA game would be rather rushed and it would end up like awkening
on the other hand its never to early for an expantion or dlc

I am rather looking forward to the movie ^^

I don't see why some people are freaking out about this, anime can be amazingly good or amazingly sh!tty, just like any other genre. It does not mean giant swords, girly men and women with watermelons for breasts. And at least 4kids isn't doing it.

I have better expectations for this than the ME movie.

I dislike it, merely because I dislike anime's style of animation. Rarely do you find one where people are proportioned properly <_<

Western animation is also known to have ill-proportioned people also.

Then again, anime's all about giant swords and kawaii desu, huh?

Dragon age was not finished in November last year.
It was finished around March, but was delayed so they could port it to consoles.

March 2009 - Febuary 2011 is little under two years. Which is the average time for a sequel to be made.

If the DA movie is of this style anime, then good for them.  No way in hell it will happen though.

Little more info for you guys

FUNimation is actually a US company that makes subs and dubs of Japanese products for the US market. They're based in Fort Worth TX. Their dubs are of high quality (better than 4kids).

So is FUNimation making this? If that is that case then tis not technically anime.

Seems to be all the rage nowadays.

"All the rage nowadays" seems to be the bigger worry, actually. Anything that chooses content solely based on fads rather than on telling the story well seems more "hands-in-your-pocket" than anything else. It shouldn't matter if that fad is a milquetoast hero, McNuglets or a peanut-butter genlock in chocolate armor.
Make something worth viewers cash, and there'll be no need for merely milking fads, I think. ^_^

I think besides the label anime, this  "all the rage nowadays" thing is what has me the most concerned, and definitely was my first impression upon hearing that Dragon Age would be presented in this "form" as a movie.

I am not a fad follower, never have been.   I do as I have said before, appreciate Dragon Age the way it is currently portrayed.

Portraying Dragon Age in anime form (btw I took a look at Funimations offerings on its site..STILL not impressed)
to go along with the latest rage or fad, because they think that will garner them more money,  might be a mistake ..they can't take back after the fact.    Once its done its done.    But, it's not MY money going toward that project, and probably won't be MY money paying for it in the end.  :P

EPIC FAIL

it would have been great if they made the movie much like CG Sacred Ashes or Warden's Calling type of movie now i'd pay to see that:O

but in Anime i would not pay to see that characters have like purple pink green hair and have like big bulging shiny eyes that have like a freaking emo haircutt dude!!!<_<

but thats just my opinion....:D

I too would have preferred a full CGI film or series/mini-series, over 'anime', but, as long as it's 'good' (story, art & animation-wise) I don't mind.

Some of my favourite sci-fi is anime, after all (Ghost in the Shell: the 3 movies, and the 2 Stand Alone Complex series; and the space opera, Legend of the Galactic Heroes...oh, and that video linked above, Jin-roh. Loved that, too and I'm waiting for the story set in that movie's alternate take on WW2. Oh. Just remembered Last Exile and Nausicaa).

Not all anime is 'big eyes, small mouth, high-pitched voices'. Some are rather serious (some are just plain disturbing lol).

I'm no longer an 'anime' fan/otaku (i.e., I won't watch anime for the sake of anime), but, IMHO, it's still a medium for telling stories...so as long as it's good, I'll shell out cash for it.

All the ignoramuses in this thread are seriously starting to ****** me off, jumping on the word 'anime' without understanding that anime is more than what they see on Cartoon Network.

Seriously, anime isn't an underground culture anymore. Anyone who hasn't lived in a cave knows about serious anime drawn in realistic styles. There has been plenty of serious anime that had good exposure in the American mainstream. How can you not know about this???

It's like time travelling back to the 80's. God!

I usually don't reply to such disparaging posts at all, but I'll pretend to take you seriously and say that even looking at what's shown on the Funimation site, it looks pretty classic anime to me.  And hence not something I'm looking forward to seeing.

How do you even know what their style is going to be when all the animation FUNimation advertise on their site are from other Japanese studios? This is their first project. Whether you're right or not has yet to be revealed.

As much as I like anime, somehow I get the feeling this is a bad idea... Depends on the execution, I guess. Will just have to wait and see.

Dragon Age Anime? Nooooooo!!!!

But seriously why can't they make a movie using the game engine, like what they did with Wardens fall series?
