I hope they don't use the technology that they used for Dante's Inferno along with the Anime feature for DA2. That would ...well suck. I hate the cute scenes in Dante's Inferno. Like the game for console hate those cut scenes. I hope DA2 won't have that look and this movie is a trial run for that. I sure hope not.

The world has such detail... To turn it into a cartoon is a bit disappointing, at best. I'm not going to see this.

Cartoons can not tell a story as good as a game(LOL) if you think that you are a fool that is all.

No, of course not.
It's not as if Miyazaki has never been praised for its storytelling.

Dragon Age anime.... hmm...
not sure how to respond to that. I enjoy anime, and it can be done very, very well... if they manage to keep the gritty feel of the game and avoid trying to pull in a younger audience, there may be hope.
*sigh* Ah, who am I kidding? It's going to be awful, just like the live-action Avatar will be.
But hey, if you go in with zero expectations, it's harder to be disappointed, right? : P At the very least, it's bound to be amusing.
Well, now that I'm sure this 9 page long thread has pointed out everything that could possibly go wrong with the medium, I'm a little more worried about what will happen with the story. Will it be a retelling of the game, or a side story, I wonder... personally, I'd rather see a side story, to expand the universe rather than show us what we've already seen (and tell us what we should have done). Oh, and... oh, lord, voice actors. I now doubly hope they make it a side story, because I dread hearing another actor rape Alistair or Morrigan's voice. Or any of the voices, for that matter.
Ah, well. Suppose we'll have to wait and see... perhaps we'll be pleasantly surprised?

Meh, licensed work especially when it comes to videogames almost always tend to be disappointing so I have no expectations about this thing.

Let bioware do what they want, I don't care what they do. A bad anime film isn't going to throw me off of DA.

Oh snap.
I don't like any of this, Dragon age is dark fantasy, and you know how dark stuff turns out to be in anime... I'm not a fan of it myself, but If they think they'll make some profit from an anime they're wrong.

I don't care what u guys say. Me and my dad give our views after the film and FYI The Last Airbender 'Not Avatar due to James Cameron' looks pretty gud from me and my dad's point of veiw. Once this is release nest year I'll happily buy it on play.com not just as a Dragon age fan... but as a Proud gamer, Anime reader and Cosplayer of Hampshire England.

Awesome! Hopefully they make it worthy to the game. Maybe something like Berserk ;-)

Dang. Hooked with the first game and sucked into buying crap ever since. Yay for them, boo for me.
Anime? Really? Why not just mail me the bullet?
I don't necessarily hate anime. I like(d) DA. (O anyway, not A) But feed me a better game storylines, por favor, because I have a hard time swallowing all this.
PS: Stolen Throne + game + Loghain lovin' = Can I have it?

(I wasn't going to say anything but... meh...)
Most people think of the big eyed, extremely spikey haired, brightly colored animes that they see on tv today.
But I think if they do it right, making it a darker set anime and keeping the feel of 'fighting for your life' and such, then I think it would be interesting to see how they do. In my mind, it will kinda be like DMC's anime or something like that.
We'll see.

When I first heard of this anime film, the first thing I thought of was Akira. The second thing I thought of was Princess Mononoke. Truly, I think people here are basing their ideas of what anime is to current children's cartoons like Pokemon.
In the case of Miyazaki, who has actually won an Oscar for Spirited Away, if I remember correctly (The only anime film to ever do so), anime can actually be terrific. The dark, gritty feel of Akira is what I'm hoping for in this film, and the animation detail and quality of Miyazaki would be great. Of course, it's foolish to ask for a film equivalent of two legends, so I doubt the Dragon Age film will be THAT good.
Still, I think this has potential. As long as FUNimation stays AWAY from ANY sort of kid's appeal, I think we have something good on our hands. The slaughtering of greatness in media is often due to appealing to children, so I certainly hope this film gets an R rating.

I'm hooked on the Dragon Age lore and style. Since its what you'd expect from Bioware in original writing I'll definitely be getting my hands on the movie wither its Anime or not. Its the story I'm after!

There appears to be a strong negative response to a DA anime movie. I wonder if it's because of the conflict people believe exists between western RPGs and Japanese RPGs (being that anime is an eastern animation style)? I don't think there's a need to dismiss the idea outright but, as other commenters have pointed out, there are many game/movie based animes that aren't very good and exist only to cash in on the IP.
Personally, I'm not a big anime fan. I grew up on network tv and didn't watch an anime until my late teens. That said, I have to admit that the best animes have a style that's very vivid and detailed compared to most western animation. As long as BioWare hires a high quality team that will stay true to the material (i.e. characters, armor, weapons, etc.) that are found in the game, I see no way that the anime style can harm Dragon Age. Although I do see where the apprehension comes from. Some of the previous comments referred to Japanese conventions regarding humor and drama, such as the lines that characters get on their heads or the way they fall over when something silly happens. I can see why that would be a problem as it doesn't fit the Dragon Age aesthetic. I still remain hopeful, however, and if my confidence falters I'll just watch Batman: Gotham Knight which is one of the most beautiful instances of western story meeting Japanese anime.

I'll be happier when I know who the artist is...
I wonder if the orignal VAs will do the voices?

Bioware has just join the ranks of the halo lovers. You now get an anime with DA characters. I hope its 1 story and not some anime matrix crap. I already got that with HAlo, batman. I don't need it for a bioware game. Please don't go that route, but from what I've seen a full movie would be sweet! I'm all for it as long as you guys avoid the mutliple anime art styles and story bit!
