My question to you guys who have most likely played all 3 of those games, is will i like DA:O and what are some of the similarities and differences between the Mass Effect games and Dragon Age.
Thanks for your time.

haven't played me1 or 2, but my understanding is there's a lot more rpg in dragon age. if you tend to like fantasy rpg's then you'll probably like da. do you have any experience with other bioware games like the baldur's gate series or neverwinter nights?

Depends on what it was that made you like ME1/2. If the only thing you liked were the 'shooter' elements then probably not. If you liked the storytelling, the conversations, the side plots involving companions, etc. then yeah you will probably like DA.
The biggest difference between DA and ME1/2 aside from the fantasy versus sci fi setting is that DA is more of a tactical party rpg and ME is a shooter. ME tends to have a more visceral feel in combat because you are gunning down your enemies in real time with some help from your squad mates. DA combat is a little more strategic. As long as you think you will like that kind of combat system I would say buy it.

Yea, the main reason i loved Mass Effect was for the story. I liked the gameplay but the story in games have always been the most important thing for me. I've never played a game with a combat system like DA:O. Also, the only type of games that i've never been able to play are turn based RPGs (Final Fantasy).
Oh ok, thanks a lot man, i'm definately gonna give this game a shot because i'm a sucker for games with good stories and i think i can handle the combat system. Oh yea, and i'm getting it for Xbox 360 so that should help as well.jorghis wrote...

It is kind of a tough call then, DA definitely has the kind of storytelling and compelling world that you like. But combat does have a little bit of a turn based feel. The way it works is that you control one character (either your main character or one of your party members) and three others will be controlled by AI. You can pause the game to give the different characters individual orders and then when you unpause and resume combat they will execute those orders. This may sound like ME1/2, but in this game it really is necessary to micro different actions for different party members on many fights, especially at higher difficulty levels. You also get the same level of control over your party members as you do your main character.
On the other hand, if you turn the difficulty down or are playing on a console (which I am told is easier) then it may not be necessary to pause that often and the game will not feel as turn based. The game is designed in such a way that the difficulty in combat is managing the different tactics your party will use.
Personally I like the pause and play combat systems better than FF turn based systems because on easy fights you dont end up wasting a ton of time, you can just not pause the game and mow your enemies down in real time. You only end up really microing on the hard fights.
