I'd like to make a request to the UI programmer for Dragon Age: Origins. It's very simple, really. This would be an action bar that is common to all characters. You put your health and mana pots, injury kits, poisons perhaps, balms etc. on this bar. Each character would have access to it. This would also free up a lot of space for skills for users that don't have widescreen monitors.

This would solve the problem of having to add these items to each character's bar as you get them, and then again as you get newer "common" items. This would save a very significant amount of time and tedium. Often during battles I'll want to use and item on a character, and find that it is not on their action bar. Then I'll have to open inventory, drag the item, then use it. This really breaks up the flow of the battle. This can happen quite often, especially when playing characters that have been sitting on the backburner for a while.

As for location, I would suggest placing it vertically on the right side, but having it movable by the player is the best option.
