I was able to run ME2 perfectly fine on XP until I recently tried to play it again after upgrading to Vista. I've verified all of my files with Steam after reinstalling. I'm using the same hardware from when I was using XP, and all my drivers up to date.
When I try to run ME2 from either the launcher or directly from Steam I get the message:
Mass Effect 2 has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Did you do an upgrade, or wipe your hdd and fresh install of Vista?
If you only performed an upgrade, then I would suggest thats your problem. Upgrading Windows from one version to another causes nothing but headaches.

Did you update the audio and video card drivers? Did you re-install the game and/or the patch 1.01? Please ALWAYS check these two things before opening a forum thread. 80% of the problems are solved and helpful people here don't have to ask the same questions over and over again.

Yeah, like I said in my first post, I've got all my drivers up to date. And Steam automatically patches ME2 to the latest version.

Have you tried running ME2 in Windows XP Compatibility Mode?

I've gotten it working. Seemed I was missing d3dx10_39.dll
So did a reinstall of DirectX and it's working fine now. Thanks for the help and suggestions.
