I play as a Human Rogue mostly... So human noble:)

I have played all the other races and origins but humans are my favourite race and rogues are my favourite class. But I have been getting a bit more money from these tips, my main problem is by the time I have enough gold I'm sitting in the camp after completing the story and with no way to spend my gold. :(

Maxing out coercion earns you an extra 100 Gold as you progress through the game.

I agree that money exploits ruin the game. I left Denerim with only 2 Gold in my pocketses. I killed Gaxcang for a spiffing sword, and 3 Revenants. I now have 26 Gold. I've just murdered the High Dragon and now have a shedful of stuff to use and sell. I also still have smuggled lyrium to sell. As I said, money comes thick and fast shortly before the Landsmeet.

Why bother becoming a mi££ionaire? Most of the expensive stuff you can't use until you're near the end game anyway. What will you do with the excess cash? Invest it in the Bank of Denerim? Cash exploits really do take the fun out of the game. You'll beat this game easily enough without becoming a Ferelden Bi££ionaire.

You can spend your gold afterwards back in Camp using the post-Epilogue Save. But you may wish to hang on to it if you wish to play Awakenings, as there are very nice purchases available early in that expansion.

Also don't forget the Dwarven Traders Belt for extra cash when you go shopping.

Actually, as far as I can tell, the Dwarven Merchant's Belt has no effect.

The Dwarven Merchant Belt does add while looting. I experimented with some back and forth quick saves while wearing and not wearing multiple times. It’s worth it. (On PC here.)

Also, be aware of WHERE you shop when it comes to flasks, runes etc. Things at the party camp are more expensive than anyplace else. Example: flasks cost 1.50 while you can get them for a single silver elsewhere. (Which means ask for reward of gold when saving Bodahn when 1st met on the road.) Learn your merchants. As well as when traveling back and forth between them those ‘random attacks’ can add to your pockets.

Do not buy health potions, craft them only. Same with traps etc, or, well, everything like that and that shiny dagger will be yours.

I read that the merchants belt applies whether it's equipped or in your inventory.

Don't use the camp vendor at all, buying or selling. He rips you off :P

I've never heard of this item. Where do you get it?

From Bodhan at camp.

Which explains why you don't know about it, lol.

I tend to use the money making glitch for the game. Love it to pieces, if you don't want to use the glitch then that's your loss.

The way i see it all the extra money you make in Origins can help you a great deal in Awakening. Such as rebuilding Vigils and the Dark Wolf payment that a 150 gold at least right there. Any left over i guess you can do what ever you like :P

It's not a loss if it means the game is more rewarding and enjoyable . To each their own.

After my 10th time through i just use the money hax, runscript zz_money amount works real nice. You have to watch that you do not give yourself too much money because it seems to break the game as in i went over 1000 gold and lost DLC wardens keep. I usually just give myself 900 gold and that is enough to go pretty much the distance.

I also suggest the auto loot mod because it can get quite annoying to have to costantly search every nook and cranny for lootable stuff, just cast and the party will loot everything in the area. It is tricky to use in that if you have an unopened room with mobs in it too close to the party when you cast it they will run into the room like dumb asses, but it does make for some interesting play lol.

hope this helps

I don't have Awakening, so didn't know. I think part of the fun of the game is trying to scrape enough money together to pay the gas bill. A bit more like real life that way. You're not given £999,999,999 in RL unfortunately. If you fiddle your expenses you're not playing the game. You haven't really won, despite Nuking the Archdeamon, no matter how much such players protest otherwise. Buying the best kit at the drop of a hat is quite simply... cheating. Those players who play by the rules are the real winners. It doesn't make the game any easier and your Rogue isn't using his true potential. It's a great sense of achievment when you finally scrape enough money together to pay the rent. I was chuffed today when I found I was able to pickpocket the Lords and Ladies in Ozamaar who were guests of the new king. Can you tax fiddlers of Ferelden say the same thing? One good thing about Ferelden, there's no tax bill to worry about. Methinks you should all be locked up in the Harrowing Chamber with Uldred. Be careful lest the Revenant doesn't call round for his share of the loot.

Honestly there should be enough gold in the game to equip your Warden with whatever you want. You can't afford to get all of the best stuff for every NPC, but at that point you are looking at marginal increases in effectiveness unless you are going to use only the same 3 other NPC's that you always do AND have their best stuff.

Just equip your Warden, in game drops/quest items will be sufficient for the scrubs.

For example... Nug Crusher, Maric/Cailin S/S, Duncan's DW are all GREAT Weapon options... and are free if you have RtO. Even non DLC there are a ton of great free equipment all over the place.

I agree with MindYerBeak. I don't feel like I'm achieving anything if I've cheated to get there.

Heyas,

I agree that being able to buy all the best items can spoil the feeling and reward you get when you finally really have enought gold saved to get THAT item you wanted to buy :) that said I use the Potent Lyrium potion 'trick' to make money to....eh...buy all the items I would like to have...

As stated before in this thread, get the Potent Lyrium potion receipe and then create and sell the potions between Gnawed Noble and the Mages Tower.

You don't need Billions and I wouldn't know how to edit the game scripting...but I've used this to get about 3,000 gold and that does for the game.

My Question would be this: Is there any way to 'quick click' so you can create or sell the potions in batches of 10 or more?

.....if you do the above and have to click for each indifivual potion it takes alot of clicks...

On the PC you can sell in batches of 1 to 99. Not sure about 360 or xbox.

I've found this is a problem too. I do get a lot of gold saved up at times but eventually it gets pissed away buying things like distillation and concentrator agents to keep my party stocked with health and lyrium poultices. It's a little frustrating to see all your gold go there. On all my play throughs I've never had enough gold for things like The Spellward, The Rose's Thorn and Lifegiver.

Try checking the AI Tactical entries for all characters, and insure that taking poultices has been applied correctly per your wishes. Once I had a mage taking lyrium far too often, and she went thru all the lesser stack in a few battles.

Usually, I just set up a tactic to use the least powerful health poultice when their health falls under 25%. For a tank like Alistair or Shale, I'll set the condition to be used when it's under 50%.

Almost the same for me. However, you may wish to dble check to see if you have < or > for such figures, as I have only had to craft extra kits early in solo play.

I remember reading somewhere here that the belt does indeed increase monetary gain... For Bodahn.

I think that's a funny and yet incredibly accurate description.
