Thanks for the reply in lenght

3) MAKE SURE that in your NVidia control panel, You've set it to override and not enhance game settings.

this is the problem, that line is missing from my nV panel :) it simply isnt there...

this is the scrcap PnXMarcin1PL showed me (1st bold line is "override" in polish):

Posted Imagein my panel that line is missing :/

The ability to override the graphics settings of a program is based solely on software: If your graphics card was too old, The game would not run, Period. The fact that the game does indeed, Run, Is indicative of the game detecting that your hardware meets the minimum requirements to run the game. Therefore, Your card is not too old.

A couple of things you can try to get the override option back:

1) Wipe EVERY SINGLE file even REMOTELY relating to NVidia: Drivers, PhysX, 3DVision, EVERYTHING!

Reboot, Let Windows install it's own drivers for your card, Then go to the Nvidia US site and download the latest WHQL drivers for your card and install.

Reboot and try adding the ME2 executable to the nvidia control panel again, Making sure that you are NOT ADDING THE LAUNCHER executable!

2) Wipe ME2 from your hard drive. Choose to delete settings, But keep saved games. Reinstall, Update to 1.01 and re-add to NVidia Control Panel.

3) Failing BOTH of the above steps, Repeat step 1, But, INSTEAD of downloading the official NVidia drivers, Go to www.cell-systems.net and download the Cytosine drivers. Normally, I wouldn't recommend third party drivers, However, I have noticed that well coded 3rd party drivers tend to be more hardware variation tolerant.

Can you also, Please, Post your specs.

I will try to remove nV drivers prior to install. I didnt do it when I upgrasded to v197.

BTW could you tell me what I need to remove and then install? I got few nV related items on the list. Will whql package be sufficient?

specs off top of my head:

amd athlon xp2800+ (2,08ghz)

assus a7n8x mthrboard

gForce 7800GS OC (256)

1.5 gram

What other would you like me to specify? Or do you prefer a whole dxdiag?

AA works you need nhancer to force it

2. OP your PC sucks befor you even try to get AA working try running at a higher res as thats all AA does any way for the Unreal3 engine if you cant run at say 1600x1200 with good frame rates you can for get AA

4x AA would render at 4x the res then downscale it to what ever your running at

Clarification:

Supersampling renders the ENTIRE image at the selected multiple of the resolution of the original image, Then scales the result back to the original resolution. This is also known as Brute-Force Antialiasing.

Multisampling is basically a half-assed antialiasing method. It takes a "sample" of the original image, Renders that sample and then duplicates it for all of the areas of the image that are associated with that "sample". An apt analogy would be to take an apple (the original image), Paint it blue and then take a digital photo of it and then copy and paste that one blue apple hundreds of times (render) and say "look, Hundreds of blue apples!" (End result)

And no, AA does not ONLY run the engine at a higher resolution. It does what it's supposed to do, Dependent upon the method of AA you've selected, Be it MSAA, AMSAA, or SSAA. I can run ME2 at a resolution of 5760x1080 (Eyefinity x3) [using some unique game file modifications of course] with no AA, Jagged lines and square heads and all and it looks EXACTLY THE SAME as 1280x720, Except for the image size, Of course.

As soon as AA is activated in CCC, Poof, No more jagged lines!

DirectX 9, coupled with the Unreal Engine 3 which Mass Effect 2 uses, isn't compatible with anti-aliasing due to the techniques it uses for lighting an image. This problem is resolved in Unreal Engine 3 games that are DirectX 10-compatible, but Mass Effect 2 isn't one of those. The best you can do is attempt to force anti-aliasing through the driver, but this won't work across the entire image - you may see a few edges smoothed, but not all. You might be able to use SSAA (supersampling), but that incurs a huge performance hit and blurs the entire image, not just polygon edges.

^this is exactly what I experience here, some of the image is looking better (especially the more complex textures and effects) while other (really straight and simple edges) are jagged. Gamma and lighting is way better with new drivers BTW.

So I guess AA works partially, but the overall difference is significant - sharper and more vivid images. To achive this I had do use drivesweeper (or cleaner?) in safemode and then install 197.45 drivers.

Thanks for the replies!
