Hello Bioware, I would just like to register my disgust with dragonage origins: awakening for xbox 360.

Do you no longer beta test things? Or even test things full stop? Sure, Dragon Age Origins had some bugs, but nothing so catastrophically ****s things up than having awakening crash every ten minites.

I have installed to hard disk. My disk is new and clean. My Xbox is new and clean. I have done everything possible to ensure it doesnt cry and throw its toys out of the pram. But nothing works.

And why hasnt it been fixed yet? People have complained since it was released of this problem, yet after so long, nothing.

You have ensured that I will not buy DAO2.

Dont quit the day job (i.e. Mass Effect franchise).

Ben.

What problems are you having? I just bought my copy and played through it this week on the 360 and I didn't have any problems except a few minor glitches.

I am like you, in that I didn't have so many problems with Origins, but found many problems with Awakening. I also have a new 360 (the one I'd had for 2 years died during Origins). Here are some of the things I had trouble with in Awakening:
Unable to detect traps:
My imported level 23 Human female rogue character was unable to detect traps.

Silverite Mines: There appeared to be 2 doors - one of them unlocked, allowing me to enter the mines before I was supposed to. Valena disappeared and I was unable to recruit her on my first (aborted) play through.

Unkillable Animated Dead: During the battle to save Amaranthine a frozen Animated Undead spawns. It does not fight and no matter how many attacks or spells used it's health does not decrease. Reloaded 3 times and each time the same thing occured. Fourth time I was able to get passed it, but I am not sure how.

Weapons/Armor:
Sentinel Armor not displaying correctly on my main character, with the exception of the helm, with Warden's Keep installed. It did display correctly on the dwarf character. I didn't test it on any others as I only played through 1 and 1/2 times.
The Blackblade tunic did not display properly on my human noble female rogue character. The chest area was all white.

Shields would sometimes appear backwards. Arrows would appear equipped with weapons other than bows.

Posted ImageThese are a few of the problems I encountered. I did not mention Sigrun's personal quest being bugged, which was one of the reasons I had to start a new game over. All things considered, this expansion was a disappointing experience for me.

I saw that second door as well, and decided "It will probably really bug things out for me if I use the unlocked version of this door instead of waiting until I can unlock the locked one.", so I avoided it. I had a few quest bugs and crashes, but was able to finish it. With the constant bugs and crashes though, even though I didn't really have any "You must now restart entirely" bugs, I decided it wasn't worth a second playthrough, and that I would not risk downloading anything else as buggy as it.

DAO is at about the limit of bugs I can take in a game, and is a decent Beta. It's not the first released supposed "AAA" title I've referred to as a Beta, and I somehow doubt it will be the last. DAOA, however, is an obvious Alpha. It is unacceptable to release an Alpha to the public like that. I'm not sure it even CAN be patched now though even if they wanted to. The patch would have to pretty much contain almost the entire game... And that's not really a patch, that's an entire game. Doing it as lots of little fixes will only generate more bugs. Patching can work for a Beta, as you can minimize bugs with patches, but an Alpha will require to many code overhauls for various sorts of efficiency to realistically be patchable.

DAOA is a lost cause, and if anything, is likely in the way of any chance on DAO patches. Ensuring compatibility between them may mean ensuring that many bugs stay in place in the original. This is why companies don't generally release DLC before whatever patches they plan on making. It causes the level of work required to do so to go up exponentially to a point where it's no longer worth doing.

It's quite unfortunate. There is a lot of fun in the game's core, it's just too much work for me to get at it, and I almost wish I hadn't bought it at this point. Especially the Awakenings DLC.

Only problems I've had with DA awakenings is the armor problem that has been mentioned and the occasional crash when the game froze up due to running hot for playing it for hours on end. Beyond that no real problems.

Add Alistair always appearing no matter your ending choices in Origins. My Noble is currently married to Anora but Alistair always shows up as king.

No Corrokk, you don't. It doesn't make a difference. Just keep going. You'll get that illusive straight hour of gameplay without bugs one day.

And Artiss, you are a very patient man then. Either that, or you didn't have it as bad as me. With it seeming to crash every 20 mins.

It just makes me laugh how much I was looking forward to it, and how much it disappointed me.

Much Sadness :(

Like that will make any difference. My game still crashed 3 times when I tried to kill the archdemon after the origins "patch". I hold very little faith that anything will be different.

I had given up on this game a while ago, went to trade it in and found out I'd only get about $20 because they already had too many copies. Figure I'll give them a second chance with this new patch they're talking about, either way the game is gonna sit on a shelf till this new patch is out. I just hope they can deliver this time, it's been eight months of disappointments so far, but this time I'm hoping it will be different since we are actually getting updates and some communication, which has been one of the main issues that pissed people off. So far the patch looks like it is going to fix some of the major issues, I just hope it doesn't take months for it to be released considering they've had eight months already to research bugs.

I do think they're serious about this patch though, because they've even made threads for them, not just little announcements, plus, after doing that they know that the backlash will be severe if they drop the ball on this one. Since I have the game sitting on the shelf anyways, might as well try to be optomistic, everyone deserves a second chance, so this will be theirs.

Hi, I have a relitivly new 360 and have played through Origins twice (Loved it so much) but anyways when I got Awakenings there were a few bugs that happened. I transfered my charachter over to Awakenings and all seemed fine. The first Bug happened around the begginning at Vigils keep when you save the Senshal from the talking Darkspawn. My char fights with two weapons and after we took out the boss at vigils keep my charachters arms seemed to be stuck in the position of where she held the swords. only her hands were open as if she wanted to give someone a hug.

I couldn't do anything for a while seeing as there were several scenes directly after this fight. During this whole time her arms were stuck in that position. Even after all the scenes and I arived at the the thrown room as I ran around her hands were still stuck there. I tried conversing with people, tried pulling my swords out hoping she'd put them away and her hands would go back. but after I pulled her swords out she never sheethed them. I tried to leave the thrown room and they were still stuck that way. So I reloaded back a ways before this bug occured and crossed my finigers that it would not happen again. Thankfully it did not.

The second glitch, that wasn't that big of an issue was after the marshes with Justice. When you meet the wife of the warden that Justice has taken over. He's glowing some kind of purplish hue, you can see through his face and his nose... and well it's more than a tad bit odd looking. It didn't bother me that much as later he looked fine again.

The third one was in the city, I had to look online to figure out where to go to get Anders phylanctery. I found that it was in an abandoned warehouse. I found the location on the map and proceeded to the area only to find that I could not acess the door. I came back several other times but I could never open the door. Despite the fact that the map told me the entrance door was right in front of me in the Market district of the city I could not enter it, nor did it light up for me as most doors do when you can access them. So I was unable to do his personal quest.

The last one was the same issue another person had during the fight to protect the city. Two animated undead appeared while I was fighting on the stairs in the market right next to the merchants board. One of them eventually just disapeared but the other one stayed. The animated dead did nothing but stand there and attract aggro It would not take damage and it would not fight either. I put my charachters into HOLD position and switched to each charachter to physically drag them away. The first time I did it, I guess wasn't far enough because to charachters ran back to try and fight it again while another two followed me to some other fighting. So I had to repeat the "HOLD" action to move them all away. eventually after they were on the completly other side of the city they stopped trying to attack it.

Later after you go into the chantry I went over to the stairs again just to see if it was still there. Despite the barrior that had been set up, the animated dead was indeed still there and I had to repeat once more the process of dragging them away. It was certainly annoying but I was at least able to eventually get them to stop attempting to attack it.

But besides the bugs I did enjoy the game, I only wish it was longer.

Oh I forgot to add that something odd happened after the epilouge explaining everything that happened. The last scene where the "mother" dies repeats itself, I tried to skip the scene only to have it repeat several times. Eventually I pressed B enough times that it finally went to credits. I don't know if the game is supposed to continue after you finish the game like it does in Origins but it did not do so for me. It took me right back to just before I went to attack and fight the mother.

I would have loved to do the personal quests and other little bits, but towards the end of the game, it just kept freezing every 10-30 minutes, and my patience was all worn out.

I know not everyone gets it as bad as I have, but it shouldn't happen to anyone. There are so many bugs, its like its not even been tested, or if it has, the testers must be either rubbish or lazy.

I was expecting to have fun, but all i was doing towards the end was praying it wouldn't crash again before I could get it over and done with.

Might be a lucky guy cos it ran smoothly for me and never froze... just make sure you reset the cache of your xbox when you start it helps with many games...(keep holding A button few seconds when u start the box from ur controller...)
