I wanted to, but face it, by the time that mission is unlocked it's hard to get a high enough intimidate/persuade (at least I think it's called that).

It is fairly early on. How did so many people manage to save him?

If you've done the mission to find his family armour you get the same charm/intimidate options you would have with loads of points in charm/intimidate.

Never seen any persuade/intimidate checks in that conversation, but then again I always did grab his family armor before going to Virmire.

Also I always do Virmire last, after Feros, Noveria and all the uncharted worlds.

I just did Virmire again like an hour ago, and I didn't even see the charm/intimidate check. I've never tried it without doing the family armor mission, so I guess that's why. What I do know is that if you do the mission and choose the "fall in line" answer, you have to pass the check, but that wouldn't be a problem for me either, I always pour a lot of points into charm and intimidate early on so that I get all the options.

It's not that early on, is it? It's at least halfway in to the game, if not more so. Personally, I always leave that planet for last, or at the very least second to last if I want to torment Liara (which I rarely do). By then, I usually have either paragon or renegade maxed, and having full persuade and intimidate is pretty simple by then.

The loyalty mission before Virmire thing is something that I have found recently and have been able to pull off in my recent playthroughs.

Before that I always did Virmire last so by that time I had enough Charm points (and intimidate for my Adept)

I always go to Virmire after I went Therum, Feros, Noveria and I spent a lot of points in intimidate or paragon.

There are ways to save him without investing in charm/intimidate. If you have Garrus in your party, then make sure you do Wrex's personal quest before you go to Virmire and you can save him just through normal dialogue.

If you chose not to recruit Garrus, then I'm fairly sure that you can still talk Wrex down through normal dialogue even if you didn;t get his family armor for him.

It's really not that hard to save him, just always remember to do Virmire last and talk to him after Therum, Feros, and Noveria. Somewhere in there you'll get his personal quest, or you can just go straight to the planet where his armor is, I'm sure everyone knows it by now....

I always save Virmire for last. It just makes the most sense to me dramatically.

I believe that you need either 8 Charm or 8 Intimidate to make him back down.
To get it that high you should save Virmire till as late as possible and in previous missions choose only Renegade or Paragon options avoid taking a balance between the two and focus on one.

the thing is, you have to choose your answers carefully or the intimidate/charm options wont show at all.

I have always saved him except once just to have a game where I didn't.

Virmie is the last place I go to when I've done everything else that I could, so passing the check is easy because I wait til later on and have enough experience in charm options. And I do his family mission too.

You need to not have Liara as well.

Do his mission BEFORE you go to Vimire. It's really that simple. Also remember you can only unlock his mission after 3-5 different conversations with him, which means you have to repeatedly talk to him until he tells you of the mission.

If you know where the armor is you can just go and get it, though, you don't necessarily need him to tell you about it.

It also helps that it's in the same system as the Pinnacle Station...

Even easier, yes. But it makes more sense if you talk to him and make him inform you of the mission.

Yeah, that's true. I don't remember the specifics, but when I did it without hearing about it from him first, it didn't really seem to make a lot of sense.

NOT really necessary, you CAN just go to his planet. I usually TAKE Wrex with me, usually Wrex & Kaiden (or Ash if I am playing as a Sentinel, my favorite [esp in ME2 with WARP etc]).

Never killed him, just once to see what would happen however I loaded a prior save. I think everyone pretty much left him alive. How could anyone kill him? He's one of the best characters in the game. I wish he had been a squadmate for ME2.

If you can't save Wrex you had better reload or restart the game in order to do so. He is Wrex. Enough said.

Um, did I not correct myself a few posts above? Posted Image

It just makes more sense if you do his mission after he tells you about it, otherwise it could cause some confusion on your part.

On my first playthrough, I found the planet by myself. And you can present the family armour to Wrex yourself and he'll tell you the story himself then.

It's wise to left Virmire as absolute last planet before Ilos and absolutely it's necessary to avoid any renegade convos IF you don't have high intimidation check.

If you do his "loyalty" quest (check Mass Effect wiki for localization of planet with his family armor) you will need half paragon bar and in my case i frankly never needed to relay on charm option because i was able to calm him down using regular dialog options.

But once again avoid any renegade dialogs if you don't have high in off red bar or didn't find is family armor because that's 100% guarantee to get him killed.
