In my main playthrough, every batarian dies. Every single one.
And it's not as if you've ever met one single batarian that even tries to be a bigger man, no, they all assume humans are bad. I mean, with turians, most of them give us a chance, same with asai and salarian, or even krogan. But batarians? no, even if you do what you're told they still give you lip.
Example: on my first playthourhg, during the mordin recruitment mission, I let the batarians go. But they gave me lip, saying, huh, a human with honor, don't see that often ". That just pissed me off so much I reloaded my game, even though i hadn't saved for a while, and went back in there to shoot them.

I was tempted to do the same as MrCry0 during that scene but I was on a roll and didn't feel like going back. Still, that Batarian ticked me off too. He was the one threatening to shoot an unarmed doctor and he's lecturing me about honor?!?!?!
It's moments like that that inspire me to genocidal thoughts regarding the Batarians.
Kudos to the Bioware writers for inspiring such an emotional response with their story and characters.
Now now, let's be accurate. They only threatened to shoot him once it was clear they wouldn't be left alone to torture him.Yakko77 wrote...

I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I want a Batarian in my squad for ME3 to see the non-terrorist side of the race. Besides the whole slavery thing, you don't really see much of their culture and I for one am curious.

If they release a Mass Effect MMO or Tabletop game, Batarians are going to be the new Dark Elves with every last player of one being a chaotic-good freedom fighter who has forsaken their kind to strike out their own path in a world prejudiced against them.

No because Batarian are more Klingons then anything else. Seriously you need to read the books. Batarians have a very high honor society and their pride is higher than most other Races. Turians kind of like to keep things simple.

RP character tropes never die. It's actually gone from a stupid played out character cliche to a well-worn but effective trope and back again since before there were dark elves.
