In my main playthrough, every batarian dies. Every single one.

And it's not as if you've ever met one single batarian that even tries to be a bigger man, no, they all assume humans are bad. I mean, with turians, most of them give us a chance, same with asai and salarian, or even krogan. But batarians? no, even if you do what you're told they still give you lip.

Example: on my first playthourhg, during the mordin recruitment mission, I let the batarians go. But they gave me lip, saying, huh, a human with honor, don't see that often ". That just pissed me off so much I reloaded my game, even though i hadn't saved for a while, and went back in there to shoot them.

I was tempted to do the same as MrCry0 during that scene but I  was on a roll and didn't feel like going back.  Still, that Batarian ticked me off too.  He was the one threatening to shoot an unarmed doctor and he's lecturing me about honor?!?!?!

It's moments like that that inspire me to genocidal thoughts regarding the Batarians.

Kudos to the Bioware writers for inspiring such an emotional response with their story and characters.

True, so true. I'm surprised I didn't shoot them. Oh well, my Renegade Shep made up for it. Image IPB

Now now, let's be accurate. They only threatened to shoot him once it was clear they wouldn't be left alone to torture him.

The only reason I didn't shoot them the first time was I thought it would get the assistant killed too.

I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I want a Batarian in my squad for ME3 to see the non-terrorist side of the race. Besides the whole slavery thing, you don't really see much of their culture and I for one am curious.

Lol. True, but the batarians thought he was carrying the plague, after all.

Batarians have just as bad an image of us as we have of them. I expect they would be startled at a human treating them fairly.

I  would be willing to give it a shot as well despite my feeling for the vast majority I  have encountered.  The opportunity to see one redeem their race would be welcome.

If they release a Mass Effect MMO or Tabletop game, Batarians are going to be the new Dark Elves with every last player of one being a chaotic-good freedom fighter who has forsaken their kind to strike out their own path in a world prejudiced against them.

No because Batarian are more Klingons then anything else. Seriously you need to read the books. Batarians have a very high honor society and their pride is higher than most other Races. Turians kind of like to keep things simple.

Except for the player characters, who will be chaotic good freedom fighters who have forsaken their kind to strike out on their own path in a world prejudiced against them.

They live in an oppressive and restrictive society, it's just what's going to happen.

Batarians aren't pretty like dark elves so nobody will want to play them.

I love killing Batarians. "Bring Down The Sky" gave me my first look at them, and cemented my dislike for them. It was only made worse by te bartender, and the sick batarian on Omega. I was not going to save him after he pointed a gun at me, and I was clearly being a nice guy. Good riddance.

RP character tropes never die. It's actually gone from a stupid played out character cliche to a well-worn but effective trope and back again since before there were dark elves.

Much like ye olde Darke Elvese, it's also about the only reason a Batarian would be doing anything outside the terminus systems or their own space anyway.

I will never trust Batarians and currently I hate them.

1. Appearance: WTF? They have holes in their head!

2. Similarity with the Asari: In the sense they will always be Mercs or Strippers. Or in this case just Mercs *imagines Batarian Stripper* CANNOT BE UNSEEN

3. Roleplaying: They killed my parents, and then I lost basically my entire unit trying to kill even more. (Yar, I am a ruthless Colonial Rube)

4. Nearly the entire population lives in Omega: I can't describe how much I hate that Anarchist Asteroid. The only good things in it were Aria, Garrus and Mordin. And I took away Garrus and Mordin.

5. Remind me too much of Vorcha: MY EEEEYYYEEESSSS!!!!
