I have installed and played ME2 normally. Now I have installed ME1 and it won't run even on Admin mode. Does ME1 need C++ 2005 or will it run on the 2008 version?

My ME1 is still working fine, however I didn't not need to reinstall it because I never uninstalled it. I did make sure to DL all the latest patches before playing my ME1--maybe that made a difference.

Careful with reinstalling ME1 though, you only get 3 chances to install it if you are doing it from a disk. The disks have a built in feature that prevent you from installing the game more than three times. ME2 did away with this feature and opted for a disk-check instead (which is good).

WTH?  Really? So it won't let you install it or you install it and it won't work?

Welcome to the world of limited on-line activations. The situation is not as bad as when the game was released - you can now revoke an authorization to gain one back (google for EA Deauthorization Tool) and you get 5 instead of 3. (And if worse comes to worse, you can ask EA for more.) But yes, it can be a problem. Especially for the DLCs, for which revocation is not possible.
