I have been getting this problem where sound works in the loading screen of the game, but does not work in the menu or during game play. I am using 5.1 surround sound, the drivers for my sound card are up-to-date. i have tried reinstalling, does anyone have any further advise?
Thanks.
Thanks.

This is the part where your post your system specs, including your sound card and speakers.

It won't be a driver issue or anything to do with the way his computer is set up, OR the hardware involved, Given he gets sound at the loading screen, Which I'm assuming, ALSO means he gets sound when using a media player and when playing other games.
This is SPECIFICALLY a game file issue...Hazarding a guess, I'd say missing or corrupted files. Uninstall COMPLETELY and reinstall. Ensure that the installer remains "in the foreground" i.e. it's the current selected window and and you are not doing anything else like using a media player, browsing the net and/or playing another game. Even the slightest hiccup during installation can cause files to be improperly installed and/or corrupted before even being used.

Since the loading screen is a cinematic I guess the sound is handled differently than the in-game sound. Asking for the sound card makes sense because this game has issues with some types of hardware. Whether it can or can't play a media file is irrelevant because I'm not implying that the hardware is broken, just that it's not fully compatible. For instance, if you try to run the game with 'hardware sound' on while you only have an integrated sound chip you probably won't get any sound in-game but you can hear the loading screen sound. That's what happened on my PC with an integrated sound card.
