Just wonderin'. Perhaps something to do parietal lobe alteration? Or perhaps an "it's a video game" response will suffice.

Translators: you're hearing what they say through the tiny translator attached to you. Modern technology!

Um, how about no?

Both Ascension and the Codex state translators are the reason behind this.

I've wondered about that, but you know what they say, nothing's perfect.

here you can put the 'its a video game' bit...plus it would look like a badly dubbed movie if they did

Damn wizards, they did it again!

Rather this, than listening to the same 3 gibberish lines in loop. :D

Because there is a universal translator and aliens speaking English (or what could just as easily be a galactic "common language") is a lot better than twenty hours of BLIP BLOP BLOOP.

Well, they did mention that aliens percieved humanity as very pushy in ME-1. They totally forced their language on everyone.

Because otherwise 99% of the people would wine that the game was badly designed because moth movements and speech didn't match up and most would think the explanation of a universal translator is a bad coverup for a design flaw. instead we have 1% of the players who wonders why everyone speaks english. :P

It's basically just a design/management consideration, "who do we want to upset?"
A: mostly everyone and any explanation we can come up will sound like a poor excuse for bad design work.

Or

B: the very very very small clickque that actually cares about aliens speaking different languages who would actually know that a universal translator wouldn't affect mouth movements.

Plus points for A: it's cheaper and requires less designwork aswell.

I think we'll go with A eh?

Like many things it comes down to style or substance. I'd rather choose style in this case.

Hey, it's better than in KotOR. All the other languages like Hutt had about 3 different phrases that supposively covered everything. Very annoying. And I HATE having to read subtitles to know what's being said. I'd rather the hanar just speak rather than try to translate their bio-luminesence.

Obviously all the aliens speak English because Bioware hates all of us and is trying to kill our families. How did you not get that?
