LOL funny article. Some good points.

ME2 is a great game, but still flawed, like it's predecessor. Why am I'm like one of the few people who appreciates ME2, yet can still acknowledge it's shortcomings? It's like everyone is a fanboy of something. You got ME1 fanboys, ME2 fanboys, Tali fanboys, Garrus fanboys (Okay I'm kind of a Garrus fanboy), Miranda fanboys, Thane fangirls, Liara fanboys, even Kaidan and Jacob fanboys.

YAY you are like me!!! :wizard: I found both games flawed, they are both not even in my top 10 games, even if I lvoe the ME unverse, the games have too many flaws.

Perhaps it's a matter of the perspective on those shortcomings, or at least how prominent they are.

Somewhere around my 150th hour of Mass Effect one, collecting hundreds of retextured weapons and pointless ammo upgrades stopped seeming like a feature. I didn't miss it when it went away.

Thermal clips didn't bother me in the slightest. I came up a little short on ammo twice, both times because they vanish into the raised texture of Collector floors so I didn't pick up all the rounds I could. Otherwise I found them more forgiving than heat build-up in the first twenty levels of ME1, and then made each shot matter in the later parts of the game as opposed to "run around firing my assault rifle all the time because I can".

Similarly, after the first "what's over here?!" Mako drive resulting in "Oh, more of the same kind of crap on the red version of this map", it lost any appeal as a feature. I accept the abstraction of landing the shuttle near where you're going. I don't need to drive a car around a mostly empty map to feel the size of the galaxy any more than I need to play a "interface with the relay" minigame to feel their technological advancement.

Genuine shortcomings or failures in games are, for my own sake, not about expectations unfulfilled but decisions that directly reduce fun - take, for example, Left 4 Dead. Fine enough zombie game, even if my friends play it like there's a mission timer and it should really be called Left 2 Dead Or Maybe 4 If You'd Like To Pay For Gold. BUT - the flashlights of other survivors don't create light for you. They create a beam that fades into the darkness. THAT is a poor decision. "I don't like Australian accents" is...trite, useless crap that owes me minutes of my life back.

I...

Er...

this is so stupid I do not have a sufficiently sarcastic response ready. I'm just going to have this man speak for me before I start with the logical counter-argument.

Okay...
This guy was joking right? Fish? No ass shots for Kelly (a pity, yes, but a reason to hate the game?)?

Anyway, the golden moment was when this ignoramus said Not only are most of the powers completely unsatisfying to use, their re-charge time ensures they usually only get a single play in any combat engagement. Especially once that sniper rifle gets warmed up.

All right, recharge time? Only a single play? Was the guy on crack? The recharge is, like, 5 seconds at most. And how can the sniper rifle "get warmed up" with a biotic class? Unless he chose Sniper Proficiency aboard the derelict ship, but then again, it's not like he was forced to do that.

And... cardboard teammates? He has to be joking. Has to. I dare this social retard to find a single game with better characters (okay, aside from Dragon Age). Yeah, they fit particular archetypes, so what? Every single piece of fiction in history has character archetypes, even the goddamn Iliad, what the ****, even the Bible,  and I have never heard anyone bashing them for that.

So basically, while a couple reasons (namely removal of driving sequences and customizable teammate armor) were quite vaild, this idiot went completely out of his way to write an article that was soaked with exaggerated and unfunny sarcasm while desperately trying to find reasons to sustain his hate for the game.
I would have appreciated it if he had just witten "I hate Mass Effect 2, period".

Okay okay, I'm cool. I'm cool. Nerd rage over.

Both ME games have flaws, and Bioware fixed some of them in a truly excessive fashion in the ME-ME2 transition. This makes both games far from perfect. I still love them, though. I don't understand what drives people to be so very loud in voicing their dislike for a game.

He has to be joking.

All games have flaws, especially if you over-analyse them like this guy does. There are a lot of things I don't like about ME2, like the choices you made in ME1 hardly making difference, or the mineral-scanning (don't say something about the patch, I play on PC so I don't have it)

But I still like the game, I might even say I love it. Its a little strange to call this list of bad things "reasons to hate ME2". Name it something like "This is why I don't like ME2" or "Flaws in ME2". The reasons this guy mentioned is not enought (at least not for me) to hate the game, so why try so desperatly to make people hate it?

I still don't get where the hate comes from. As others have pointed out, it's not a perfect game, but what is? It was still awesome. And, seriously, Mass Effect 1 wasn't all roses either.

All I will say is that a number of those are pretty petty reasons to declare hatred for anything, so either someone has a very short temper or a very meaningless idea of what hatred entails.

The majority of these reasons are based on game play. Some are legitimate. There are only a few that somewhat relate to the plot, characterization, and story telling. With the exception of the last, they are largely superficial.

Mass Effect 2 has a Story which is very flawed. And boring Minigames. People complained about the Inventory System being to much of a Clusterf..., so Bioware removed it. People complained about the driving Sections, so Bioware removed them. Maybe we should keep or mouths shut about the Story and its Plotholes.

This.  Its not like it can get much worse, for me anyway.  I'm half expecting EA to assign mass effect 3 to whatever company made whichever call of duty game EA produced, or commit some similar act of ultimate stupidity.

Well, yes, the Iliad had its flaws, but in the end it was exactly what fans of epic poetry in Ancient Greek wanted.  But then Homer took all that good will and completely destroyed it with the hackneyed episodic plot of the Odyssey.  In the Iliad, we had terrific characters like Achilles and Hector, all fighting in a war that pitted all the gods against each other, to say nothing of the two greatest nations in the world.  In the Odyssey we get Odysseus wandering around lost like an idiot from island to island with absolutely no plot continuity at all.  Cardboard characters abound.  I mean, were we supposed to find Circe interesting in any way whatsoever?  Heck, we cared more about Hecuba.  And what's with the seven years with Calypso?  Clearly, Homer was too lazy to write a lousy few more thousand lines of poetry.

The Odyssey was clearly a complete betrayal of Homer's fanbase, dumbed down for all those Babylonian-tards who liked the chronicals of Gilagamesh.  I for one won't be listening to Iliad Three.

As none of you understood what i said was this:

I wanted to have different types of armour which have various abilities such as Fire resistant or enhanced shields.

I also wanted to get armour for my Sqaud like Krogan battle armor or Turian Inferno armour. This would not have been hard to add in.

I do though think sheperd could have done with more decisions and consequences. I do believe if i were sheperd i would do a deal with some mercenary gangs to get tech and credits.

Many didn't consider Bioware's changes with ME2 mistakes. That is incredible!

the only downside was the semi-crap story and the overpriced and crap DLC (pretty easy to pirate though)

There are plenty of things mentioned in that article that make it apparent he never played the game entirely.  Maybe he rushed through it, and picked out what he didn't like, but yeah whatever...the writer's a major douche nozzle.
