I was testing my laptop on "can you run it", since its a bit outdated, and got this massage:
Minimum: Intel Core 2 (or equivalent) running at 1.4 GHz or greater (Vista/7 requires 1.6 GHz or greater), AMD X2 (or equivalent) running at 1.8 GHz or greater
You Have: Genuine Intel® CPU T2050 @ 1.60GHz
CPU speed did pass though.. does this mean i have to get a new laptop???

Is the CPU the only thing it said wasn't sufficient? For an enjoyable experience you'll want to replace that computer, in my opinion

based on the specs for DA:O here:

you seem to have whats needed to run this game. Download the free character creator and see if that runs. If it does it should allow you to run the game itself.

correct, remember computers have a life of about 3 years before you should upgrade replacement as the software slowly starts to outpace the hardware (one lil applet at time). My last computers lasted me 6 years before I finally broke down and replaced everything (I build my own computers and not buy complete systems). So I definately got my monies worth out of my old PC.

I agree with the above post. C2D @1.6 and, I believe 1mb cache, will be straggling running the game. DA:O is very CPU intensive.

actually I think its more Video intensive based on how glorious it looks with all settings maxed. But I could be wrong...

well like I said, I had my PC for 6 years and finally had to get new stuffs. If your laptop is over 6 years old you may have to break down and get a new one to run this game smoothly, unless you can wait 5 minutes or more between zones and such. Newegg, Amazon, Tigerdirect and Microcenter (all recommneded dot coms) sell cheap laptops with current specs for under $400 out the door
Those small laptops are very cute, I just won't buy any prebuilt PC cause I like to build my own (its my hobby

if the free charactercreator program is running smoothly, will the game itself then work?

Oh, don't get me wrong, it is video intensive as well (even tho I don't think it looks that good graphics-wise tbh). Just not every day you see a game having a quad core as a recommended system requirement
If you are able to run character creater, I guess you'll be able to run the game, I'm just not sure how smooth the gameplay will be.

You can give this a try too: See what it says about your performance.

The two things have this kind of relationship: if you can't run the Character Creator, you cannot run the game. If you can run it, you still have no idea at all how WELL the actual game will run. It may just be a slide show.
