I honestly believe that almost everyone who was born in the 90s would say Pokemon.
Not me! I'm '92, and my first RPG was Diablo
Yeah, Pokemon was more accessable to me at the time.

Edit: It might have actually been Dungeon Master, but I can't remember.
@Lao Dan: Try downloading DosBox - it's free and makes all those old games playable.

Damn you, at the time Diablo was released, I couldn't even play "T" games. '91
My dad didn't care about age ratings. My first game was Duke Nukem, when I was 3. I would play the game while sitting on my dad's lap. I fondly remember Duke telling a stripper to "Shake it, baby!".

Years later, my freshman year in college, one of my dorm mates told me who had the crucial item for walking through fire. Played it over my winter break despite it being outdated. I was satisfied to finally beat it.

Still, I was born in the 90s... err, make it 1990 actually. 20th November, date when the Mayan prophecies actually were discovered!
Baldur's Gate is actually a game that I am afraid to play even today. Like the epic fight of a level 1 thief and a wolf... fight that in most cases ends badly. I am scared of ingame insta deaths. Like a sniper pooping your head open, a beholder sending deathrays at you, and many many more.

I still fondly remember killing gold golems for days to afford that broad sword!

For the last time Zelda is not a RPG, but I have to say it's what got me into RPG's.
I don't consider Zelda an RPG either, but I have to say, its close..
