conversation and quest giver jumping

So I have a conversation and my quest giver exits towards my PC at the end of it. Then the quest giver jumps back to his original spot once we exit dialogue. This is a simple dialogue, not actually a cutscene. Is there an easy fix to keep the quest giver from jumping back to his original spot?
