I definitely agree that this is what makes it so appealing.  It's the same reason I preferred the Atton "romance" over the Carth romance in KOTOR.  Becuase nothing ever happened!!!!  It just leaves you wanting more.

I like imagining Nate in certain situations  

But imagination can only do so much and is not enough, so in case Bioware gets the wrong idea, we still want Nate for da2 or expansion!

Hell,I'd gladly pay for DLC that added a believable and well-written romance with Nathaniel to Awakening.

I thought Nate was awesome when his trailer first came out.He and Sigrun were instantly my favourite companions.
(No,I am not biased when it comes to Rogues! Whatever gave you that idea?)
And while one of my buddies that plays DAO instantly wanted to slaughter Nate with a chainsaw,I was just mesmerized by that sexy voice of his.

O/T but one of the best things in Awakening is that they let the PC have more facial expression.  My PC's expression screams, "You are so full of ****".

Lol Bioware can't make someone so appealing to many, even Oghren, and then dump him.  He hasn't even begun to reach his full potential in awakenings and yet he's still amazing!
