In honor of all the DA2 excitment, the prompt this week is "The Free Marches".

We know Nathaniel was there, but what did he while he was there? Do pre-DA2, or during DA2, whatever!

I'll update the OP sometime today.

So here we go then! Well, I figured that as he was squired there, he'd most probably spend his time in archery drills and other useful things, making the local lads jealous of his skill - he did say his time in the Free Marches wasn't spent chasing skirts and drinking beer, or how was it... Hi there taliesyn, you were credited- there is a link to your page right beneath the image. I see you either snipped the link or else you're quoting from a quote which didn't have it. I wasn't aware it was customary to ask permission to repost art that is publicly posted as long as the artist is credited.  Edit: Checking my link, I see that it only goes to an image ID and not your page- I must have right clicked on the image and didn't realize that didn't send people to your page.  My apologies for that, but no reason to assume it was done with ill intent.  I did make a link after all, and it was pretty clear I wasn't trying to pass it off as my own or anything.    I'm big on artists receiving credit for their work.

I guess the asking permission part varies by the artist. What comes to linking back and giving also visible credit, it should be automatical, of course... I started reading this thread months ago, before I couldn't post, and though there has been real improvement in this, it's a healthy reminder to us all that perhaps when posting fanart, it's good to both link back to the original and perhaps even notify the artist.

I'm such a Nathaniel freak that I read through the WHOLE thread (yeah seriously) when I found it, even though I couldn't post, and I have to say it was a bit of a nasty pang to see several of my works (and other people's, too, but of course you react most strongly to something you created yourself), but without credit or link back to the original. But then I figured that hey, what's my art for if not appreciating Nathaniel And as people weren't posting the stuff as their own, I thought I'd just let it go.

I'm sure no one has intended any harm here, though! *passes on the peace pipe* *poofff*

Addai, Apology accepted and thank you for it. I didn't get the impression you were attempting to pass it off as your own work. I suppose it bothered to see it posted without my permission and have it accompanied by a less than postive remark. I spent hours on the piece, so I guess this makes me sensitive and less than objective. Either way, thanks for understanding.  I hope everyone makes an attempt to credit artists for their works in the future (with specific links )

*Takes a puff* I don't think the intent was to harm either. But people should be credited for their work. Anyway, I wrote my piece, Addai replied most graciously and that's the end of it. :happy:

It's a beautiful piece taliesyn, Maker knows I can only produce stick figures, and we always appreciate Nate arts around here. I try to fave them and post them because I'd like to see more more more.

No worries, Addai. I don't disagree with your comment ; Helena is shocked by Nathaniel's action (Alistair broke her heart and she never considered being with someone else. Nathaniel's impending kiss and affection for her is about to change all that...).  And well, Nathaniel's hands are close to her neck

All is good on my end and I hope you continue check out my Nathaniel pieces.

The perspective was not thanks to me...it was all thanks to my reference pic

That's what I figured- that it was shock from the kiss.  And you drew Nate really well.  Sometimes people overdo his features and yours are lush.

You bet.  I scan for Nates periodically.    I'll just be more careful in my trackbacks.
