Yes!  A new prompt is given every Thursday, so there will eb a new one tomorrow.  This week's was "Firsts".
Let me know if you want to be on the prompt giver list!  I think we only have 4 at the moment, we can always use more!

Well, I didn't have time to do the prompt fill this week....but in my head it was a scene involving the first time Nate shot an arrow.  That arrow ended up in Rendon's arse.  Just go ahead and pretend I drew that.

Ahahahah Well, Nathaniel Howe used to be a protestant minister in 18th century Massachusetts... Apparently he's famous for the phrase "The way to be nothing is to do nothing." Somehow fitting.



Also, I found a ship bell in that cathedral in Edinburgh (if it has a specific name it escapes me atm) that reads H.M.S. Howe. That was funny.

Or he's pissed off they put pants on him in DA2.  I much prefer that reason for his angstitude.

Of course!   He was promised a lack of pants in DA2 and Bioware have renegged.  He'll stand in the corner and brood on their dishonourable actions.

(I tell you after all this talk of Nate with no pants, it better happen or I'm going to be extremely sad panda.  The opportunity to finally bed Anders does NOT make up for the lack of ability to remove Nate's pants.  )

The Commander had moved the portrait. It took Nate a while to notice. It wasn't his habit to stand staring at it after all, he much preferred showing it his back. He knew the sense of satisfaction he got from ignoring his mother was petty. Knowing that didn't prevent him feeling it.

Now he had noticed, he wasn't sure how to feel about the change. He supposed having his brother stare down at him was slightly better than his mother doing the same. Thomas after all had been a harmless wastrel who seemed to have spent most of his adult years swimming in ale.

Nate had no doubt he'd have done the same if he'd stayed at home. His father had done him a service by sending him to the Free Marches. He hadn't thought so at the time, but now, he knew.

When he'd left, Thomas had been a bright eyed youngster, full of energy and questions. So many questions. "Why is the sky blue Nate? Why does Samuel have funny ears? Are all dogs as big as ours?" He supposed they were the kinds of questions all children ask. Innocent questions about the world around them.

When he'd been younger they'd annoyed him. Why did the child need to ask such stupid questions? The sky is blue, because its blue. What other explanation was needed?

Oddly Thomas' questions were one of the things he'd missed the most. Nearly every day during his first years away he'd remember them and wonder who answered them for Thomas now. At odd times he'd come across something and his first thought would be 'I should tell Thomas about this'.

Nate had written letters, at first, but as time passed he'd become increasingly distracted by his life and eventually, he'd stopped. Not that it had seemed to matter. Thomas had never replied to any of his letters, nor had any of his family. Delilah had once, he'd be fair to her.

Her explanation was father hadn't wanted them writing to him. He supposed he understood that now. So much to be kept hidden while schemes and plans were made. Nate liked to think if he'd known what his father was doing, he'd have done his best to stop him.

Feeling the need for it he turned to look up at the portrait. Thomas looked much as he had as a child. Either the painter had done him a kindness, or he really hadn't changed much. That seemed unlikely given his propensity to drink himself senseless.

Had that weakness always been there or had his father driven Thomas to it? Thomas must have known what their father was doing. Not just the later schemes and power games but the things Delilah had told him. Things Nate did his best not to think about.

Things that would drive even a strong person to drunkenness.

It was difficult not to feel that he'd abandoned them. He'd been young and not given a choice in leaving, but still, should he have fought harder to stay? As much as the idea of leaving hadn't appealed, a small part of him had been excited at the prospect. An adventure over the seas in a strange land. It had sounded like one of those stories Adria had told him as a child.

Standing here now, so many years later, Nate wished he'd somehow been able to take Thomas with him. Perhaps then, instead of looking at a portrait of his dead brother, his brother would be have been standing beside him, looking at a portrait of their mother.

Hey! I'm ducking in here for a sec to ask something that might be of interest to some of you (if it hasn't been done already). Miri1984 pointed me to the Anderstair earlier, which is a tiny override that basically pops Anders' head on Alistair's body.

Has one already been done for Nate? If not, I sorta.. puzzled out how to do it for him. >_>; would anyone be interested? (Again, only if it hasn't been done already, if it has, just ignore me!)

...Am I a complete lame-ass if I think it's a bit weird? Alistair is SO different from Nathaniel that it would throw me off totally to see a Nate that acted like Alistair. Like who are you and what have you done to my favourite Howe?! D: But if someone wants that, why not?

hahaha XD yeah, no argument here - I had to take off my headphones so I wouldn't have to listen to Alistair's voice talking with Nate's head - it's mindboggling. XD Mostly I did it so I could nab some screencaps. 8D

Maybe this weekend I'll fraps some of the DAO sex with the Nate head on Alistair's body.  I did this with Cullen for someone once before.
