Ooooh no I didn't notice him at the final battle! I only saw ugly-assified Zevran. X_X

As to whether or not we're going to see him again... It's not impossible. The things he was saying in his cameo were so much in reference to the next part of the series that it would be nice if he was still involved. But you never know until it comes out.

Nothing probably.  I only noticed Zev because I heard his battle comments and paused the game to look.   It may also have to do with who you support at the end perhaps?

I may switch sides in my next run and see if that changes anything.

I didn't see neither Zev or Nate.
This happens because there is a limit of npc that can join you, as I suspected. Another user in the forums confirmed me that much in the Zev cameo thread.
You have Cullen, which is mandatory. I had my sibling (Bethany as a Warden). Then, since I had Aveline in party, Donnic showed up. Then Varric and Isabela. Dog, if you call him, counts too, so avoid sending the puppy in battle.
The order of appearance, according to this post is:  party + cullen, your brother/sister, party members, Donnic, Zevran, Nathaniel.

I would have gladly traded Varric and Isabela for Zev and Nate, but alas.

As is my habit, my first playthrough ended early.  I've started a mage who I'm enjoying a lot.  I like the party make up for her better (Aveline, Fenris and Varric) (she's got a heal spell which is enough so far).  Aveline is just gorgeous - I love when she says "Well done but don't get overconfident" when something gets oneshotted. 

Do I need an Awakenings import into DA2 in order for Nate to show up?

I heard if you import the "no compromise" profile you should have the conditions to get all cameos (that or the one with the warden dead o.O sorry i don't remember clearly). 

As an alternative, you could always use the DA:O Save Generator and set all the flags you need (worked like a charm for me)

Well boo. I imported a DAO playthrough into DA2 and was midway through ACT 1 when I went back and completed Awakenings.

Oh well...

Well I imported a not-completed Origins file in Awakening, then completed Awakening...with Nate in my group killing the Mother. And still, in DA2 my import said Nate wasn't recruited...but left the Wardens! Nasty things happens with imports :\\ Just a reminder...don't do the quest Fools Gold that a dwarf gives you. For some reasons if you do that you don't have the cameo even if you have all the right flags.

I think its an either/or - well according to the guide it is. You either get Fools Gold or Finding Nathaniel. If Delilah is lurking about the Chantry the dwarves won't give you a quest.

Not that the guide can't be wrong, or the game bugged (perish the thought ;-) )

Oh god.... please do not invoke the unholy power of the Mako.  I'm seriously surprised that Kaiden and Garrus let my Shep drive that thing and never once stopped to take the keys from her.

Hey! Don't dis the Mako...on second thoughts do dis it. I don't think anything has ever made me swear quite as much as trying to control that piece of ....

The Mako can be fun for a short while on the PC... but it's the quests that it's used on that make me dread it.

Anyway, I missed Nate's cameo in DA2 for importing a save with no Awakening in it... D:

He sure looks badass in that screenshot though.
