I wasn't expecting him to be such a deep character when I started playing Awakening.It was really nice to hear him being enthusiastic about being a Grey Warden and saying he actually enjoyed it.

Nates definitely one of my favorites. My current run through is Nate, Sigrun, Anders, and my mage. We kick be-hind!

I take Nate. Anders, Justice and my characters are usually either rogues or mages. Sometimes I rotate Justice with Sigrun.



We do just fine without the drunk and bitter dwarf.

I get really annoyed if I'm forced to take someone outside that for the purposes of the plot.  Hence why Valenna met an untimely end at her camp.  Couldn't make myself boot Justice though (if its even possible) so had to do that part of Blackmarsh without Siggy :-(

I should bring Sigrun with me more often I like her, but I prefer having Justice around as a tank while my dual wielding warrior lashes out the damage. My warrior COULD tank if she has to, though.

LOL yea I did Kal'Hirol first my last run through Awakenings and I loved having Anders, Sigrun and Nate with me.  For Awakenings, for me, with my S&S Warrior that was Team Awesomesauce.

Unfortunately I had some conflicting mods and had to blow up my games as they were unfinishable.  Got a couple nice pics first though

This is such a sweet moment, siblings reunited.  And my PC was missing having WinterForge around so he could match his armor up.

I actually found that you really do not need a tank. My last play through was with my mage and I did most of the game with Anders, Sigrun, and Nate. I put Sigrun in the Stormchaser set dual-wielding and had Nate with bow and ranger summoned beasties. We did great! Sigrun was legionnaire, duelist, shadow rogue specced. Both Anders and I were in robes.

Oh? Nice tip - I've been umming and ahhing about the mage run through. Might try that with Sigrun.

I also had mod issues I think - Vigils Keep bugged out so I couldn't save it - the shems in Amaranthine love me now though..I suppose that's some compensation.

Sigrun sneaks into Nate's thread to see what's going on (must have heard her name mentioned ;-) )

It's true. The character is only as deep as being in Awakening would allow. As much as I would have liked to bring my Origins companions into Awakening, having any of the Awakening companions available in Origins would have also been pretty badass.

Nonsense! They all copied from Cailan! The king was a trendsetter

We all know how Oghren will react and vice versa so for the rest, I'd say on the top of my head:

• Alistair would be suspicious of Nathaniel while Nathaniel would treat Alistair similarly to Anders.
• Dog might be suspicious too at first but will be friendly when he feeds him something.
• Leliana would ask him about the Free Marches to add to her repertoire of stories. Unlike with Velanna, I don't think he'll start a debate on her vision. He'll be cordial with her though.
• Wynne may be indifferent until he starts asking questions that could spark a debate in their banter.
• Sten may have a similar impression of Nathaniel like Justice. He would throw a positive remark on Sten's fighting skills.
• Morrigan would have a higher opinion of Nate than Alistair. Nate respects Morrigan but would've liked her more if she doesn't disapprove of any gesture he sees as more humane.
• After the initial surprise on sharing the same hairstyle, Zevran would talk to him about being a rogue and chasing skirts. A friendly rivalry is possible.
• Shale would ask him questions on why he joined the group, his father... anything she heard relating to him. He secretly disapproves of killing birds but feels sorry for Shale.

I have to say I really did like Nate as a character in Awakening & yea, if there were romances, I'd probably have shagged him... but he's no Alistair
