Seriously though, I think he was definitely one of the most underused characters in DA.  I think he would have made an awesome character for a full-fledged game, given all "history" of his father, and how that would affect him.
Plus, a Nathaniel/f!Cousland pairing would be filled with hate, anger, remorse, and delicious sexual tension!

i dont think he woulde have lived much in the original game with cousland characters  but in awakening youve already killed rendon howe and have alot less steam to blow off

Made an Orlesian Warden to play, the tension was not there but Nate was still an interesting character as he dislikes the "Order" for killing his father, not the warden personally.



I love how you can make his attitude do a 180!

You're probably right on Thomas.  He is younger than your pc when Howe takes Highever.  I would say maybe 16 or 17.  I get the impression that the HN is around 20 years old.  Last time I played a HNF, I made the comment , "Isn't Thomas a little young for me?"  Howe said something to the affect that we would grow into each other.  Yeah.  Right.<_<

The Solanaris set is tier 7 too.  Enjoy!

Am I right that Nate is younger than Thomas?  If so his char model is very inaccurate in reflecting that, unless life is very hard in the Free Marches ;-)

I thought Nate was older if only because he was old enough to have been out in the Free Marches for eight years which, if the HN is, say, 20 when Origins starts would mean that they would have been thirteen at the time which would have made Thomas even younger and a Nate that was younger than that...just how soon WAS Rendon trying to ditch the kid?

Nate being eldest would make more sense to me as well.  I did have that in my mind at one point but saw somewhere that he was youngest.  I will launch a search for that once I get home from work.  It'll drive me nuts otherwise!

I took him right away because I was in awe of suddenly being able to excercise the Rite of Conscription (shown with Anders) and was going crazy.

I've only let him go once on my Orlesian warden. She didn't care about him being a Howe and didn't see any crime that he actually committed other than trespass. So, she let him go. She had much bigger worries than one angry son of a disinherited noble.

I let him go a few times but I like to conscript him in the jail. Being told I'm "a very strange woman" always makes me chuckle

When you suggest recruiting him, he asks if you'd really want someone who just tried to kill you to be a Warden and if you spared Zevran then you get the 'Some of my best friends have tried to kill me' which was great but he gives the same response as he does when you just confirm that you do.

Roleplaying as a human noble once, I conscripted him only because I wished for him to share the same fate as Duncan put me through (my FHN didn't want to become a Grey Warden and wished to die with her parents) as a sort of revenge.  Why didn't your FHN have any sort of revenge in mind for Nathaniel?

My HNF didn't have any revenge in mind for NATHANIEL but she wanted to stretch out her vengeance against Howe Sr. by turning his son against him.
