I admit, the first time I saw the Aeducan crest, I thought it was a pineapple. :P

Edit: Ooops, forgot about top...

The first time I saw the Aeducan crest I decided that I wanted a shield just like Bhelen's. Then lo and behold my DN game...

So just received a reply back about the Howe crest from David Gaider. Sadly he can't tell me what it looks like either. Wonder if I should just make one up.

You know what really angers me?

That there is no massive dwarven armor that goes perfectly with the shield!!! I hate it!
And also because we can't have the shield on our backs, even if we use a two handed weapon (like Dain was).

Really? I haven't played in a few weeks but I thought you could. Well, not in the origin, of course, but when you get it from Gorim. Posted Image

Wow, you got a reply that quick from him?  Awesome!  I know people who ahve asked him things, and they enver heard from him!

I'd go with some variation on the bear thing, since Amaranthine is the bear.

Well, it's probably an easier question. "No, we don't have a Howe crest."

I might have to make just a variation of the bear thing.  Doing a little research online, I found this about Howe:

English: topographic name for someone who lived by a small hill or a man-made mound or barrow, Middle English how (Old Norse haugr), or a habitational name from a place named with this word, such as Howe in Norfolk and North Yorkshire.

Wonder if I should make something like a small mountain that looks like Devil's Tower, a bear apparently created the deep crevices on the sides of that mountain. *thinks about it and runs off*

Put me in that basket - obviously Nate's age is a harder question ;)

Thinking about it more, maybe DG can't answer any questions about age. I know he's never openly admitted the exact age of Alistair as well.

Hmm, that is true.  Knowing where he comes in the order of children would be nice though....

Perhaps he's in DA2 and we'll know all then!  I will cling to that hope for now...

I just got a copy of Game informer - read the DA2 stuff - am finding things to like about it so far.

Have you tried not asking about age but birth order? Maybe they can answer that. I mean, they probably couldn't say if Alistair were older than Cailan since that would shed light on his mother but something as simple and relatively inconsequential as whether Nathaniel was the oldest might be okay.

I asked both.  I just checked the message I sent.  Oh well - perhaps someone else could ask?

He may be afraid of me ;-)

If nobody else has done it, then I'll do it since I did suggest the PM. I can't guarantee that 1) He'll reply to me, and 2) I'll be around in the forums often though I'm going to check as soon as I can.

EDIT: Message sent. I also asked David Gaider to include Avilia as a recepient when he replies. That way, if I could not see it first, maybe Avilia would.

OMG! David Gaider replied to my PM :o

Nathaniel is the eldest. Thomas is the youngest. I think we set Nathaniel's age at 30, but I don't think we ever established the ages of the others.

Dave

NICE!!! That's what I had thought, as far as the birth order.

Why did they have to make him look so much older than 30?

Can anyone remember how old Nate was when Rendon sent him off to Kirkwall? I think he was about 9, but I can't remember for certain.

I also wonder what happened to Nathaniel's mother. I know Thomas was killed in the war, but neither Delilah or Nate mention her as either dead of alive. We also have no codex about her. We do know she is alive at the beginning of Origins. Howe mentions leaving his wife and children in Ameranthine.

Nate said he's been away for eight years, so that must've made him about 22 when he was shipped off, right?

That's interesting about no mention of his mother. I almost got the feeling his mother went back to live with her parents.

Edit: I can't do math.

Side note: *squeel* Nate's 30!  PUUUUUURFECT!

Isn't it though?  Alistair is early 20s, and it makes me feel dirty sometimes to squee over him. But I'm 30, Nate's 30.....perfection.

I totally felt the same way about Alistair (it didn't help either that he was a virgin) but Nate being 30 totally rocks my fangirl world.

You know, this kind of blows my whole theory about Nate not seeing his father as a person out the window. It would make sense if he were a child when he was shipped off to squire. Also, weren't boys sent to squire at about 10 - 12 years old? 22 seems awfully old to be sent to squire. Maybe Rendon simply wanted Nate out of the way so he could do his deeds without impediment.

That would certainly make more sense since Nate could feasibly be the only one who could've stopped Rendon from doing all those nasty things to begin with. He could've also had Rendon killed, which would've left all lands and titles to Nate.
