I was truly planning to kill or at least banish Nathaniel ... and I just couldn't do it, despite the fact that I didn't need him on my team. So he spent the entire game standing in the corner of the throne room looking decorative.

I'm curious, have you tried using the Manual of Focus on Nate to make him a Melee DPS. He worked great on my mage playthrough:
PC - Ranged DPS
Anders - Healer
Justice - Tank
Nate - Melee DPS

She's got one line in chapter 10, Of Mice and Men, that I totally swooned over:
Nathaniel's scent is overwhelming; with her nose this close to his skin all she can smell is salt and leather and man, dizzyingly strong.

Maeves_Child aka Daeghun's Daughter on ff.net has a really lovely story right now that takes place in Awakening with her F!AmellxNathaniel. This particular F!Amell interests me because in a prequel to this fic, she romanced Loghain.

I changed Nate to a DW, only becuase my rogue was archery based. I wanted to take him around, and having 2 archers seemed silly.

As for changing Nate to a DW,I tried doing so and he's honestly a hell of a lot better as an archer.Of course,it may have had something to do with me messing up his tactics,but still I prefer him as an archer.

I did a run with Nate as DW - him and Sigrun were like a pair of threshing machines. Chewing through mobs like nobody's business.

He's still cuter with a bow though...did I say that out loud?

I've currently got Nate, Sigrun, and myself as dual wield with Anders. The three of us completely chewed up the Ogre and the Ogre Spirit in Vigils' Keep Deep Roads (on Nightmare). I must say, having Anders in the Battledress of the Provocateur makes him pretty hardy. He hasn't died since I gave him the leathers. Just as a FYI, in the pics below Nate is in the Shadow Warden Leathers I brought over from Origins.

So browsing through dragonagenexus, I stumbled upon one of many mods for Nathaniel. I'm not sure how I feel about his nose being different. Still a good lucking human, but it doesn't strike me as "Nate".

I'm quite fond of his nose, which boggles the mind of some people. I think Bioware got him just right, he looks and sounds his age, and he's got that rugged appeal, like Avilia mentioned. I'm tired of pretty-boys.

I also feel weird when I find a really pretty mod of someone I don't want to change because it's a good job, like the one up above, but it doesn't feel like THEM.

I completely agree.I don't think Nate could ever be considered 'pretty' due to his pretty prominent genetics (I know what that's like,believe me. *has quite the large nose*) and in addition to that,his voice has a subtle gravelly sound to it (if that makes any sense) so naturally his appearance has to match.

Looking at the mod above I have to agree with Sarah1281, why fix what isn't broken? So sayeth the fangirl who's changed Nate's hair one too many times and his skin.

And yes, the uber-sexy, I-want-to-ravish-you-right-now voice of Simon Chadwick voice needs a face that isn't conventionally handsome yet must be paired with dark hair and light eyes. *sigh*
