I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Nate is perfect for an elf.  Just something about him.  Whenever I scribble he just inches in and steals away an elf!   I blame the bow ;-)

Nathaniel Howe and his Orlesian Commander just enjoyed a night of romance. When she awoke in the morning, she was most dissatisfied that he didn't present her with breakfast, or something else of that nature. Since all women in Orlais are treated like goddesses...
I can imagine her trying to get him to wake up, to fetch her something (she IS his Commander, after all) and him just rolling over and pretending to be asleep... well, that won't do, will it?

Ha!  Indeed.  The bow he's using in that shot is Falon'Din's Reach, in fact (hadn't gotten grandpappy's yet).

Besides the fact that I pretty much only play elves, doesn't Nate flirt with Velanna a bit??  I've heard rumors of that, though I usually leave Velanna in the Keep so I haven't actually heard it myself.  It makes me wonder what we'll learn about him in Kirkwall, if he'll have encountered elves there, who have a bit of a "dark history" in the area it seems.

I had always liked the thought of him with Sigrun, but I figure these two will have some things in common.  In order to join the Wardens, a Dalish first/ keeper might have lost everything, like Velanna did.  She could relate to Nate's loss of his family, as well as the feeling he has no place in society any longer.

Sounds like a start to a great ff.

I'd like to think Nate has a thing for elves but if that's true, him being a romanceable option in DA2 is nil since we're going to have to play a human.

Oh, I hadn't thought of him being a romance option for Maid Marian.  If he is, then it must not end happily, or he wouldn't be running off back to Ferelden and become a Warden?

Poor Marian. Oh why is it a variation of my RL name? I'll never use it as is ingame. Ahem *clears throat* Orlesian Warden has it worse though - no romance ingame! At all! Marian has (assumingly) Varric and/or at least two unannounced LIs.

I think most, if not everyone, in this thread who imported a Warden with a LI right after Awakening was released felt that way. I could live with a Cousland only remaining friends with Nate regardless if she was available or not at the end of Origins, but the Orlesian? They get no loving beyond imagination, fanfics and fanart. Everybody else (the Amells, the Mahariels, etc) are fair game although again, left to our own devices when it comes to Awakening.

Velanna?  Oh, she's that Dalish mage who tragically dies at her camp.....:innocent:

I should bite the bullet and let her either live or recruit her one day I suppose.  There's just something about her and the way she insists on being made a Warden.  I always picture her running off before the blood's even dry in the cup.

The part I bolded.  That's it I think - exactly.  Even though he's a noble he seems disconnected from all of that and human society.

I wanted to be Danica Hawke as a nod the Kiesha'ra of the Den of Shadows (seeing as Danica is a hawk!) And- and- and I was plotting gawrsh darn it! Rats, bats and cats!

And I don't want to romance Varric if I'm a human. I have to be the shorter one. I'm ALWAYS the shorter one. It's so I can look at other people and go "Tall person! Get that for me! Pleaaase!" (Flashes back happily on my little elfling in DA:O-A and imagines her asking Nathaniel to get stuff down for her because even on her tip-toes, she can barely reach some of the shelves).

No, Marian and Garret are just the default names just like Elissa and Aedan Cousland, Solona and Daylen Amell, Neria and Alim Surana, Kallian and Darrian Tabris, Lyna and Theron Mahariel, Sereda and Duran Aeducan, Natia and Faren Brosca, Leonie and Gerod Caron, Sidona and Elyon Andras, and Nika and Eram Kader.

Sorry for the confusion, Lady_Scarlett Don't worry, you'll be able to choose Hawke's first name. I've been calling Hawke by default name ever since the info was released. Maybe I should stick with "male" and "lady".

When you meet Groundskeeper Samuel, Nate refers to him by his title then name while Samuel refers back to Nate by a nickname. I almost feel this reveals a bit about how Nate treated elven servants. He lived in Fereldan until he was 22, old enough to see prejudices about elves and their second class situation, yet didn't adopt them for himself. Just a thought... Nate

That's from one of the 'flirting' conversations. He was just trying to get to her.

Can't a man have his fun teasing the more uptight characters? That's how I see some of his banter with Velanna

I'm pretty sure he was just messing with her. He does that with a lot of the other NPCs. There's one I recall with Oghren, where Oghren thinks that Nate is completementing him about his drinking skills, but really is making fun of Oghren. it's why I love him.

I suppose you guys are right. It's so hard to tell when he's being sarcastic with that voice. Not that I'm complaining. I could listen to him read the daily stock market numbers and be happy.
