I always think Nate's banter with Oghren perfectly sets up his character - from memory:

Oghren : I bet that quiet and stoic thing gets you a lot of action
Nate : Are you an admirer Oghren?
Oghren : What!? No. Well, not unless. No!
Nate: Good, then I won't have to worry about getting too drunk at camp.
Oghren : Hehe. I like you but not like that.

Nate's VO doesn't change from that mellow tone in the least which makes it even funnier to me.

(Okay the fact that I can remember that is worrying....)

I've been playing with my male Cousland prince consort chap (<---) but wondered if it was worth making a female in case there was anything different in the dialogue. Yes I know there's no romance.

I think there's only a difference depending on whether you're HN or not.  Also if you're Orlesian.  I don't think there's a sex (pardon me, gender) difference.

I can't be absolutely certain as I haven't ever played a male char...over to the better informed.

I couldn't tell you. I've only played one male character on DA:O, and I got halfway through and went "I hate being a guy. I wana be my gender!"
He never survived to Awakening.

Heh, I have the opposite problem. I have to say that, despite being female, I find it harder to play women in DA because I dislike the female models and find it hard to identify with them (too scrawny, too busty and I hate the undies). If was crazy about Alistair then I might find some reason to play as a woman, but I'm not (plus I find romancing Zevran much hotter with a fella, because I'm dirty like that).

Obviously, a romanceable Nathaniel would give me more incentive to create a female character, but sadly, it's not to be. Our Nate lust must remain, sadly, unrequited.

As far as I know the only real gender differance in Awakening is during Nathaniel's conversation with Delilah.She'll mention before having a chat with Nate that she's glad she didn't have to marry that 'stuck-up Cousland boy'.You then have the option to say 'I'm right here,you know.' And Delilah pretty much embarasses herself. 

But as far as Nate's conversations with a Warden of either gender go,there isn't much of a differance.

I love the converstion has with Oghren about his brother Thomas. He's saying how Oghren reminds him of his brother because he jsut drank and drank. Oghren's all happy and impressed, and then Nathaniel saysjsut deadpans "and then he vomited on his shoes." It goes right over Oghren's head that Nate's pretty much telling him he's disgusting. I love that banter.



I tried searching the wiki and other sites for the transcript, but couldn't find it. Anyone know where I can find it?

At one point during Awakening I wished there was an option to turn around and slap Oghren silly when he brought up Rendon torturing people in his estate in Denerim in front of Nate.
Just the way Nathaniel says, 'Why are you telling me this?' I was like

Oghren saves it with that last line....it sends me into giggle fits.

Oghren's banters with Justice crack me up as well. I have to say I was expecting the worst after I'd read people's thoughts on Awakening (basically I waited until patch 1.04 came out before installing it, so only on my second run now) but so far I've found him pretty entertaining.

Anyone else sympathy-squee when Nathaniel says "the Howes are pariahs now"?  That line is delivered so well, you really hear his anguish.

We should have at least been given the option to 'hug Nate' at every opportunity.   Particularly when he's trying to deal with the fallout from Rendon's ambition.

Re your last comment - not even as a joke!  They'll hear you and then things might happen, bad things....

(Not that I'm saying its a bad thing to bat for the other team.  However in this case it would be!  Very bad.  Bad.  Just.  Bad.)

Oh noooo.... on my new game, I'm getting a bug where Nathaniel will not equip his grandfather's bow and then it sits in inventory greyed out.  Does he have to be at level 20 to do that?  Because it's taking forever to get my followers to level 20 and that's the only thing that has been different than on my Origins imports.  Anyone else find this?

Aha, that was it.  I didn't realize it had a dex requirement.  Man, I hate being poor and level-poor too.  Orlesian elf has Nate stealing for her, too.
