Finished Tecla's game.  It seemed to go really fast with an Orlesian, maybe because you just feel like you got up to speed and then it's done.

None of the crew were happy campers when she killed the Architect.  Knew I shoulda brought Sigrun!

He's stoic ;-)

Just to be nosey - who was your fourth on that run?

...no, it really doesn't.  I can probably make up 6-8" of heigh difference just by looking up, and 12-18" with a very slight chin tilt.

Kissing, now that cranes your neck to the point where you start looking for stairs to stand on.  But everyday conversations are fine.

(I'm short enough that I'm always surprised when I realize I'm not looking up at someone and shocked if they're actually shorter than me and not a child.  And I dated a guy a foot taller than me for three years. :) )

I have the opposite problem.  In my whole life, I only dated one person taller than me.  It's resulted in slumped shoulders and ad posture Posted Image  My husband is my height at least....I just can't wear heels, ever. Posted Image

I had Nate, Oghren and Velanna.  All of them wanted to deal with the Architect.

Heh, the epilogue slide said Velanna was upset because she thought if they had made a deal with the Architect, her sister could have been saved.  So it was something like "Tecla and Velanna had a difficult relationship as a result."  LOL, what changed about that?

That seems pretty naive of her, imo. Her sister is clearly a ghoul and the taint seems pretty far along. What does she honestly think is going to happen?

There are implications in the dungeon that the Architect has some way around it, like the Qunari merchant. What would keep him from, say, 'Awakening' her much as he does born and bred Darkspawn, with bits of Utha's Grey Warden blood?

He could be lying, but I wouldn't call it unreasonable either.

It's her sister, and she loves her.  It's probably not easy for her to accept that her sister is a ghoul and to give up on her.

Right, I don't blame her, and she has more justification than Oghren or Nate for wanting to deal with the Architect.  I really don't buy all the "but it could end the Blights" talk.  Maybe I have a too black and white view of the darkspawn.

It was just funny that the epilogue made a point of saying "Dalish catfight in the Vigil" when that's how I pictured the dynamic all along.  Posted Image

The Qunari merchant isn't tainted. The Architect hints he can not taint those around him. Seranni IS tainted and is clearly a ghoul.

The Qunari merchant isn't tainted... at the moment. But that doesn't mean, over time, he wouldn't catch it as well. I don't recall if the Qunari was promised reprieve from being tainted at all or just from dying to it, but in light of either I don't feel that either is beyond reasonable belief.

And, as I suggested, being a ghoul doesn't necessarily mean Seranni is beyond hope or mind, if the Architect's awakening process can affect ghouls as well.

Why would it be able to affect ghouls? They aren't darkspawn. It seems more likely that Seranni could be helped by becoming a Grey Warden.

A difficult relationship with Velanna....isn't that her default setting? :P

I'm terrible in Awakenings - I have my core group and can't make myself mix it up.  Have to go with Anders, Nate and Sigrun.  Just have to...all my favourites in one place.

What's with the short hair? Did you just prefer it?

(And damn but I wish that Blackblade armour set was complete...it's annoying they missed the gloves and boots).

Just the Architect?  Doesn't the messenger spead the taint if he's allowed to live at Amaranthine?

Sorry if that's a dim question - does he have some sort of cure or can he just not taint people - I didn't think it was something darkspawn did consciously, more like a disease that just spreads?

Or am I completely off track and should go away to read some more?

I had it short for a while due my feelings about Eamon (yes, I know, I'm odd).  I've modded Eamon though so Nate now has his hair again.

I have a mod for my game to add the gloves and boots - are you a pc person?

If so :

Nexus mod link

There's also one to have the bits drop off the two dragons at the end of the mines run.

I didn't check before coming to answer whether you were a pc person or not - so ignore that if you're not ;)

The Messenger does spread the taint. The Architect is the one who says he knows how to not do it so either the Messenger is not capable of using the Architect's method or he doesn't know it. Or he could just not care, I guess, but that goes against his Robin Hood image.

A possible explanation is that just as the Grey Warden blood breaks the taint's hold on the Dark Spawn minds/connection to the Old Gods, perhaps it could do similar to a ghoul's (in breaking the hold and effects of the taint on the person).

Or perhaps not. I certainly agree that the Grey Warden solution would be most likely. But it's less about what is the solution and more about that a solution isn't beyond reason or possibility.

***ATTENTION NATHANIEL FANS!!***

Jenncgf and I were talking about stealing the prompt idea from the Anders and Zevran threads, and creating prompts for the Nathaniel thread!  Here's how it would work:

About every week or so, a new prompt will be released.  This is your (yes you!) cue to create a fic, art piece, or whatever else you can think of based on the prompt.  Anyone would be welcome to post something, Nathaniel lover or not.  Never posted in this thread before?  Who cares!   We welcome everyone, new and old.

Would anyone be interested?  Or would there be dozens of ignored prompts?  Tell me your thoughts!

I might be able to participate, though I'm not so good with that kind of on-demand stuff. And maybe once a week is too much? Again, that might just be me, I'm very ponderous. It would be fun to see others' work.

It doesn't have to be anything big.  I know the Ander's thread is doing a one hour time limit, so that way people can crank out quick sketches and short stories.  We don't have to do time limits, but I don't want anyone to think they have to crank out an opus or anything.  Also, they did a one word prompt, which leaves a lot open to interpretation.  We could vary it up, sometimes just a word, sometimes something more specific.  Just something to put a little bug in people's heads, and maybe generate more fan media.

We could do a prompt involving Dalish elves! Posted ImagePosted Image
