I might be able to participate, though I'm not so good with that kind of on-demand stuff. And maybe once a week is too much? Again, that might just be me, I'm very ponderous. It would be fun to see others' work.

It doesn't have to be anything big.  I know the Ander's thread is doing a one hour time limit, so that way people can crank out quick sketches and short stories.  We don't have to do time limits, but I don't want anyone to think they have to crank out an opus or anything.  Also, they did a one word prompt, which leaves a lot open to interpretation.  We could vary it up, sometimes just a word, sometimes something more specific.  Just something to put a little bug in people's heads, and maybe generate more fan media.

We could do a prompt involving Dalish elves! Posted ImagePosted Image

....
Maybe. I have a bad habit of taking forever to write, and my shorts are usually 10-15 pages long when typed (the only reason the one I'm writing right now is so far five, bordering six pages is I've hacked out a lot and made it shorter). And I can't draw. So I have no fanart to give.

But I like the idea of putting a bug in everyone's head *Insert evil manaic laughter here*. Nathaniel needs much more attention then he has.

Sooo... is "nose" really the prompt?  How does this work exactly?  I haven't paid attention to it in the other threads.

I have no idea if it is the prompt but I think we should stick to a time limit (an hour seems to be working for the others) otherwise people will be tempted to obsess over it and try to make what they do perfect when it's supposed to be just a quick thing. Then there needs to be a deadline. The Zevran thread has the winner make the next prompt and is given a drawing/story by the previous prompt-giver but the Anders thread decided not to do winners and just take turns giving prompts.

No rules or prompts yet.  I just wanted to get a feeling on everyone's response to it.  Stay tuned!!

Re rules and such, why the time limit if there's no competition?  I would enjoy it more, I think, without that restriction.  And I do prefer not having it competitive.

Time restrictions are helpful in making sure that someone doesn't spend the entire week on their prompt which is just supposed to be a quick thing.

***ATTENTION NATHANIEL FANS!!***

Jenncgf and I were talking about stealing the prompt idea from the Anders and Zevran threads, and creating prompts for the Nathaniel thread!  Here's how it would work:

About every week or so, a new prompt will be released.  This is your (yes you!) cue to create a fic, art piece, or whatever else you can think of based on the prompt.  Anyone would be welcome to post something, Nathaniel lover or not.  Never posted in this thread before?  Who cares!   We welcome everyone, new and old.

Would anyone be interested?  Or would there be dozens of ignored prompts?  Tell me your thoughts!

I'll try to do something.  Not sure what...can I do a story using screen caps?  Does that count?

I'm having fun with the Zevran prompts and Nate is an early favorite in my Awakening crew (just finally started it after the patch came out) so I might play, too.

Anything counts!!

And I'm ok with no time limit, but like Sarah said, it's suppoed to be something quick, fun, and easy.  What will make it NOT fun is if everyone gets obsessive over making everything perfect.  Think of the the prompt fills as quick sketches!  If a particular prompt does inspire you to create something grand and masterful, that's great!  Go with it!  But that is not purpose.  The purpose is to get everyone's creative juices flowing, and share lots of different things with each other!

Yeah but if I want to sleep with my prompt on the pillow next to me for a week, is that so bad?  Posted Image

I just don't like rules.  Rules are bad.  My vote is for the Woodstock of prompting over here in Nate's thread.

LOL..ok, we'll treat any "rules" more as "guidlines".  How's that sound?

Sounds good to me.  I'm part German, give me some rules guidelines and I'm gtg ;)

Also, I was thinking of maybe starting a blog or something to compile all prompt fills. We can post them here, but then also have a place where they are all collected, so they don't all get lost in the thread. How's that sound? Can't something like that be don on Live Journal? I've barely used it so I don't really know....

Well, look at it this way:

If it's not crazy long, then we have no way of knowing whether you spent more than an hour on it, right?

But as Mel said, the point is to keep it fun.  If you want to sleep on it for a week, that's totally fine.  Or you can, for example, write over the course of a week, 5 minutes at a time.  Whatever works for you.

I think the other threads have done a 1 hour time limit mostly to keep us all from going nuts.  Rather than have that translate to a word count or particular size (in the case of pictures), it's an easier way for a lot of us to do our thing.

These are guidelines.  Nobody's going to stand over your head and say "ZOMG YOU TOOK AN HOUR AND TEN MINUTES!!!!" :o

So, yeah, the idea is that it takes an hour total to do your creative project based on the prompt.  The prompt lasts for a week so that everyone who's interested can set aside the above-mentioned hour to participate.  Beyond that, anything suitable for posting to the BSN boards is fair game.   (If the subject is not suitable, it can always be linked here with an appropriate warning :wub::wub:)

Hopefully that clears things up!

I personally find LiveJournal to be kind of crap for an archive.  It can be done, but it's not really the best or easiest, IMO.

I would tend to something maybe like a free Yuku BBS; start a new BBS thread for each prompt, post entries in that thread.  Yuku has some search capability; might not be the greatest but LJ has almost none, IIRC.
