America was founded not too long ago compared with other areas in the
world. From there they gained power really quick and is now they're the
most powerful country in the world. The rest of the world is jealous
of America just like every race is jealous of the humans in ME series.

America, (the free and independent nation) was founded in the late 18th century and did not become a superpower until after WWII so its not quite the same thing thing.

I am not convinced every race is jealous of humans. For example, the volus ambassador in ME1 (Din Korlak, sp?) is resentful that the humans have such priveleges, being so short a time in the galactic arena. But is he jealous, or just purely resentful?

Analogical arguements are poor arguements.

The rest of the world is just jealous because they don't know anything about the scandinavian states.
And as for ME, the humans got different agendas, The Alliance, Cerberus, we don't know if Earth approves of the current situation, there can be a friction between Earth and the Alliance.

Lol, expect flaming from non-Americans.

I don't find it particularly analagous to America. Plenty of other nations on Earth have risen to power in relatively short amounts of time. I do find that ME leans to the 'humans are special' side, however, though part of that is because of the improbable and seemingly shortened timeline.

I always thought that Spectres were symbolic of America's foreign poilcy.

Precisely the opposite.  It would have been more prudent if the US sent a Spectre to take out the rogue terrorist leader, but they decided to send the fleet in and start a war with the Terminus systems.

The Council must be equivalent to the U.N. then. Inept and useless.

I see the similarites but they are very basic ones that could be related to anything.

Yeah, but I am hoping they are just pretending to be stupid.

Similar idea, but in Mass Effect it's taken to an extreme. For the U.S., we started with the same level of technology Europeans had, but with lower population and infrastructure than the Europeans. Luckily, the US became independent right at the dawn of the industrial revolution, and were able to reap all of the benefits. After a couple hundred years, we had surpassed our European mother nations in technology, population, industry, and military. This was also due in no small part to the World Wars, which ravaged European nations. The US did send a lot of troops who died in those wars, but we entered into both wars late, and neither wars saw battle on the main continental United States.

On the other hand, the Systems Alliance has only had mass effect technology for not even half a century, yet already has technology and industrial might comparable to spacefaring superpowers which have been using mass effect technology for millenia, the last major war being a millenium ago.

It's not really the same.

The top dog is almost always the one that is the most despised. Whether it be a nation, a corporation, or a sports team for example. The list goes on and on.

These are the reasons i've thought of so far.
1. Spectres are above the law.  Likewise, America is far too powerful to be held responsible by international law.
2. Spectres are often accused of meddling in matters that do not affect the council, such as Shepard's involvement on Noveria.
3. Spectres view themselves as guardians of galactic stability.

Do you mean a century? Because it was 9 years, nearly a decade, before humans even came in contact with another species after they discovered the ruins on Mars.

I prefer the Council to the UN, as it exclusive, and does not add as much legitimacy to petty tyrants.

Yes, that's what I meant.  Thanks for catching that.  Fixed.
