Well if it isn't DA2 in February then it will have to be an expansion and a half...more-more-more of DA. :)

Maybe they'll at least mention the card thing in an interview or something. Say what it is and give us the full title of "Dragon age 2: the next game" :) The game just won't have a booth and won't be shown yet... We can hope right XD

I doubt the card advertises an expansion. Awakening was a rather large expansion and didn't recieve such special treatment and it wasn't revealed so far in advance, and we already heard about the anime, if the card was about the anime they would have mentioned that when anime plans were announced.

I just want it to be DA2 so badly ;)

I'm with you on that! ;)

I'd just be really, really surprised if we don't hear anything from BioWare about Dragon Age at E3. As of now, th eonly official thing they're working on is The Old Republic, yet its plain as day that they're working on another Dragon Age game and ME3 as well.

And we already know some DA game is coming in February per EA's quarterly reports and various interviews and February is only about 7.5 months away yet we have heard zero details about this game so far. Meanwhile, most other games like Dead Space 2, Gears of War 3 or The WItcher 2 which are scheduled to come out in the same window have all been revealed and had trailers. Even look at Mass Effect 2 last year- it came out about the same time of the year as the 2/1/2011 DA title is and it was present at E3 last year.

Maybe it won't be on the show floor, but to not hear anything at all about new Dragon Age games from BioWare at E3, arguably the biggest event for games of the year, would be rather baffling to me. I know they want to pimp out The Old Republic, but thats not even coming out until sometime after March 31, 2011. And yet we know more about TOR than the next DA game.

My optimism shall not be restrained- I'm willing to bet we'll hear a DA announcement on Monday!:o

I actually hope they aren't planning DA2 for next year. It seems far too soon for a game of anything like the quality of Origins. I'd be happy with a DLC of substantial size that featured my companions and made good use of the actors to develop the characters more.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear of an expansion, but I don't know how that would possibly work. By the end of Awakening, your character is already such a high level that you can't even keep all your abilities on the action bar, and you're insanely powerful. Maybe they could do something like HotU and make something that starts at midlevel but doesn't involve your previous character.

I don't know why people would be worried about such a thing. All the devs have to do is make the enemies dwarf the PC in comparison. Who knows, we may not even be fighting Darkspawn anymore *crosses fingers* after all, is there anything more they can do with those enemies? I'd like a Morrigan-based expansion, and if thats the case, you *must* be importing your same character(s) or it wouldn't make any sense. Lets not forget we couldn't possibly have heard the last of her, therefore it is illogical to force us to start from scratch until all loose ends in the original game have been tied up.

On that note, we'd better have the option of joining with Morrigan and her child, I will *never* buy an expansion or sequel in which the only option is to kill her. However, I believe what I just said is quite inconsequencial. After all this is a Bioware RPG we're talking about. When's the last time there wasn't at least two choices to make each with a different outcome? Wait, since that's my conclusion, why did I bother to mention the possibility of only one option? Hehehe thats the way.   I really want more DA , but sorry to say I just can't get my head around the anime stuff coming up.     It just does NOT fit DA...unless they are planning to change everything drastically for the sequel.    If everything goes anime,  well I guess thats that for me.

I don't think that will happen,  but hey who knows what Bioware has up their sleeves.

Wait and watch the news I guess.

I'm not too excited about the anime stuff either. The way I see it is that most of the other EA franchises like Dead Space or Dante's Inferno have gotten little anime movies to segue into the games, so I figure thats the case with the DA one. *shrugs shoulders*

The one thing that is a bit curious is from this inteview with Greg Zeschuk where he mentions how Dragon Age 2 would be "super hot" visually. He drops this quote:

"I think the overall visual style we're going to continue to evolve in
Dragon Age
,"
Zeschuk added. "People are going to see some cool ...
I can't really say too much, but I think Dragon Age as a world
is interesting."

So, does he mean that the graphics will continue to get better or maybe they're going to totally revamp the style of DA's graphics? Just my speculation, but maybe he means they'll go for a cel shading look, kind of similar to Borderlands? I'd not be too keen on that, but I'm probably reading too much into his quotes.

He was vague enough there, that I can't read between the lines...overall visual style going to continue to evolve.

One might interpret that..as oooh!   New graphics....ANIME ...lol  but I don't want to go there.. hehehe

I'll be waiting for the official announcement. I probably won't buy it at launch, but will surly add it to my collection at some point.
However, if they reveal that Morrigan is in it I'll probably preorder special edition...

I am the exact opposite if Morrigan and the DR play a dominant role i will get it eventually when it is on sale, maybe.

I just had a thought, what if we play as the child-god, like a coming of age for him/her in DA2?? Your character in DAO finds you and joins your party!

Think I have seen some speculation about what you have mentioned before.   That could turn out to be very interesting.    Again a view from the "other side of things".    I think I'd go for that. :)   Not sure how that would work with your character joining you if you are playing the old god-child.    Not sure if thats even possible.  hehe

Hmmm just saw this part of the quote from Mr. Zeschuk:

"Dragon Age," Zeschuk added. "People are going to see some cool ... I can't really say too much, but I think Dragon Age as a world is interesting. It's a timeline, and you can go anywhere"

------- end quote

If thats the case, then going "anywhere" in that timeline, could bring you back to where Duncan is prior to recruiting your warden, or even earlier than that. Interesting. Wonder if they'll ever consider it, I realize that Duncan is "dead" as per Mr. Gaider, but who knows what they'll decide to do for future dlcs? We have a long way to go yet for the two year's worth of dlc that are talked about frequently.

I'll be waiting ...:)

Said it before and I'll say it again, the February release won't be Dragon Age 2. It's just too early. It also makes no sense if the press release/release schedule from earlier this year is anything to go by as why would they make Dragon Age 2 as a hand held game? If it was something else then it'd be listed as a separate product, IMHO.

I'd expect a tie in product, personally. We're only 8 months away from it, so I'd expect something soon, but generally a lot of the information that'll be "revealed" at E3 is leaked beforehand, so I'm not sure we'll see anything yet.

Mass Effect 3 is already confirmed, so that's nothing new.

The way I look at is this- most games have a roughly 2 year development window. Origins was originally done in March 2009 when the PC version was supposed to ship. It got delayed and subsequently most of the console porting was handled by Edge of Reality, not BioWare. Its not inconceivable then to think that either soon before or soon after March 2009 is when BioWare started work on Dragon Age 2 or whatever the February title is.

Many people said Awakening was coming out too soon, only 4 months after Origins- yet a much smaller team with about 1/10th the resources as Origins had were able to do that in about 1 year. So given that BioWare knows the ins and outs of their engine and the technology and the lore, I'd think with a full budget and close to 2 years developement time (March 2009 to February 2011) they'd be able to possibly do another full game. Maybe it won't be as long as Origins, but who knows...

As for the handheld version, I think its pretty clear it will be a flash based Dragon Age Journeys type game to tie in with the main PC/Console game.

Origins was in development for 5 years, though. Or at least that's what I've been lead to believe. If BioWare started development on DA2 in March 2009, that would project it to early 2011, yes, but it still seems way too soon. It'd give DA a shelf life of less than one and a half years.

Awakening is a great example of a release gone wrong. Whilst it took a year to develop, there were so many bugs and working-as-intended problems with it that shouldn't have happened. Why was most DLC not supported? Why is it that modders have perfectly fine solutions out there for that within a short time? Yes, I understand what Mr Woo posted not long ago on that topic, but it doesn't explain why BioWare didn't do it in the first place. They knew Awakening was coming. They knew the DLC was coming out. So why didn't they test it? The DLC in question (Warden's Keep was the main problem, I believe) had been out since release, so between release and Awakening you're talking almost half a year.

Just because they can bring out DA2 next year, I don't think they should. I think BioWare, as a company, need to stand back for a moment and look at all the criticism that's been flung at them. A lot of it is angry teenagers with a God complex, but it's the real criticism they need to look at. Poor design, bug-filled releases, wasted opportunities, engine problems. If BioWare released another Return to Ostagar, I wouldn't be happy. Why? Because it was dull and it made no sense. My Dwarf looked mortified at Cailan's body - but why? She didn't know him. Wynne's often-cited comment was completely out of place and untrue to her character. The story of the DLC was dull. The feel was dull. Everything about it was dull.

I would be happy if, presuming the 2011 release is DA2, BioWare delayed it for 6-12 months and really got on their hands and knees and made sure it was the best they could offer. Dragon Age was not their best product, the post-release support could have been better. Yeah, they don't have to offer it and I don't feel entitled to it, but when they do it and I pay my money, I expect a product (as a customer) that lives up to my standards of the company, and let me tell you that I don't think any post-release Dragon Age product has done that.

Just my 2 pence on why I don't think the 2011 release isn't, or shouldn't be, DA2.
