But FIFA seems to be in love with controversy because it draws publicity, and we all know that there is no such thing as bad publicity.

You know, when you have a free kick the other team makes a barrier of men, unless it is a Penalty kick, right? That barrier or whatever it's called in English has a lawful distance to be set. Players never stay in that distance and advances with sneaky steps to shorten the distance and thus reducing the chance that the striker can put the ball over the barrier and into the goal.

Probably inverted situations... the ones defending the off side would be crying out that it WAS and then ones that made it would be saying it WASNT.

The truth is that it was another mistake... but there are always mistakes.

Its not so much cheating as just poorly enforced by the ref so players take advantage. I think the spray is a good idea I dont know why it hasnt caught on here. How long does it last Rage? Is the line there for the rest of the game?

It was a tight match... they both could have win easily. So yeah, Holland did deserve to win.

I don't know. Netherlands pulled into an insurmountable lead with under 20 minutes left in the game. There wasn't any really reasonable way Uraguay could have hoped to catch up. A long shot, but the one extra goal they made was as much as anyone could have expected.

Maybe if people weren't allowed to take dives for 5 minutes. But since that's how the game is played....

Well I am a little displeased for Uruguay. I am a "romantic" one.. and Uruguay is a team who had a major role in soccer's history.. I would have been happy to see them win the World Cup 60 years later..

@MaxQuartiroli Believe me, they did a great job. They almost didnt get in, and they made it to the semifinals... they should get some credits despite errors and other stuff.

They may have some good players and a decent team but they'll never be again the great team they were in the beginning of the last century.. Anyway.. i agree they have to be happy. I trust no one could ever image they could reach semi-finals.

The spray lasts a couple of minutes on the grass and disappear. It's been used here for many years now and players are so used to it that they never ever move forward, just jump as it is allowed, and sometimes the ball goes under them... lol.

Points will be updated tomorrow after the second Semi Final Match. Let's see if someone wins 90 points (very luckly since todays max was 30) in this round or the regular max of 60 points. =)
