It was an ugly game for all of 90 regulation minutes. Spain had a really interesting battle plan, keeping their strikers benched until extra time, but it payed off well for them. 10 and 9 coming in midfield and striker, respectively, in the first and second halves, respectively, of extra time kept their team fresh and attacking hard. The game picked up tremendously in extra time, completely in Spain's favor. All the Oranje fouls came back to haunt them when they lost a man in extra time, giving Spain just the little leeway they needed to sink one in the net. The Netherlands were completely handled this game. They played hard and heavy defense, but they played to ugly, drawing too many yellows, forcing subs early and leaving Spain to do most of the attacking and come in fresh for the extra time. This game belonged to Spain the whole way through.

And That Ball Was a Corner! not keepers ball, and that ball on Elia was a foul (before the goal)!, KUT WEBB! he should never be aloud to ref a match EVER AGAIN

Spain played just as ugly as we did, they should have just as many cards, including reds as we..
Inuesta kicked Van Bommel (i think) when he walked away, Puyol had to get a second yellow on the foul he made on Robben when he was in front of the keeper, and that are just a FEW examples..

Um.. that goal was not offsides. The commentators replayed it over and over, with overhead cameras and overlay line devisions. He was completely onside. That's just sour grapes talking.

And as someone who doesn't care one tiny bit about either team and just watched the game for the fun of it, no Spain did not play as ugly as the Netherlands. Even a Netherlands commentator said so after the game, blaming the outcome completely on how Netherlands handled themselves.

The goal itselve wasn't offside but the pass that came before that was.... and even before that some Spanish whiner made a foul on Elia without that fking Webb calling it.. they never even should have gotten there..

Spain has been the true victor if this WC. Sure I'm dissapointed but I think we Dutch had it coming. Spain was stronger and played better football. Sure there were some dives from the Spanish side but we made it hard on ourselves. I think the true champion has justly won the WC. A great team with great players. But I'm proud to be Dutch. Im proud to be part of such a small country that can make the finals. Im proud at van Marwijk for being such a great coach. We stood firm but nevertheless we lost. See you in four years everybody!

Ok, I just saw the replay and it wasn't offside, but still, he got the ball because Webb didn't call the foul on Elia and that rel really had to make something good to Spain....... he gave them free kicks on every foul by us and every dive by Spain... and never gave them cards...

Robben had the chance to win the match, twice, and he lost it. Don't blame it on anything else. It was a fair game, Spain played better and deserved to win. Holland could have won as well but they didn't score when they should have! All the rest is just excuses...

I actually really liked the ref. He didn't put up with a d*** thing from any of the players and handed out yellows liberally. In my honest opinion (and again, this is from someone who really didn't care at all about either team) the Netherlands god more yellows mostly because they kept complaining to the ref, whereas the Spanish players backed off when he told them to back off. ****** the reff off and you suffer the consequences.

I'm implying that giving a hard time to the guy with the yellow and red cards is a bad idea. I'm also saying that I liked that the ref didn't take any crap from any of the players and carded them when he wanted them to STFU.
