Originally, football was just about getting a ball into a goal on the other end of the field. That was it. When they tried to make the rules universal there were disagreements on whether you could use your hands or not. That's how you ended up with "football" and "rugby football." Strictly speaking, any kind of game where you're trying to put the ball in a goal on the other end of the field is a variation of football.

Aye its not without its faults but thats part of whats so brilliant about it. Everything inspires emotion, the elation of a last minute winner, beating your bitter rivals, getting beat by your bitter rivals, a beautiful play, hating someone for diving. Thats not even half of it but what other sport can give you that range of emotions, sometimes all of them in one game? We need to find you a club team to supportthe_one_54321 wrote...

It's not half as exciting once you're out. And the regular season bores me. I can't stand the way most players dance for free kicks and yellow cards. They all, as a sport, need to stop taking falls and just play the darn game.

If Europe games are available I'd say Barcelona, no other club plays a better football, at least it's the most fun to watch. Europe Champions league or Spanish Championship.

Spanish league is terrible though Barca and Real win about 95% of their matches and league is decided by which one of them screws up the least. It might have the best players but is the least entertaining. A team in the English PremiershipRyuGuitarFreak wrote...

I'm in El Paso Texas, btw. But don't mistake that I'd be a fan of much of anything in Texas. We in El Paso generally hate most of the rest of Texas, except for Austin and San Antonio. (and the Dallas Cowboys, for somereason, though I think that team isn't worth the grass they play on)RyuGuitarFreak wrote...

Association football (soccer), American football, and rugby football all have the same origin, and all have the same equal right to be called "football".dark-lauron wrote...
I never got why Americans call their football football. First, that ball... is more like a banana, second, they even keep in their hands for 3/4th of their time. Finally, they rarely hit it. How can they call it FOOTball?!
As for the results... Well, we ended up with the same standings as if Edu's goal had been rightly allowed, so do Slovenians even have anything to complain about?

Premier League is the best for sure (Chelsea FTW). But I was saying that if he starts to support a team, I'd say Barcelona. Not to care a lot for the Spanish league which is as you said, decided by Barça or Real Madrid, but to watch the games and try to have some fun with it.Druss99 wrote...
