This I don't understand. Checkoslovakia played TWO World Cup Finalsl (34 and 62 vs err.. BRAZIL!!!!) and it was not the Czech Republic alone! There were some Slovakia in that team!
This is not their first World Cup even if they want the old record to be given to Czech Republic.
If Italy scores another and get a draw and Paraguay keeps 0-0, Italy is IN and Slovakia is OUT! (corrected)

My apologies to the fans, but this has all been spectacular. It's always amazing and exciting when the unexpected happens. It's horrible and boring when the same teams win every championship. France is out, now maybe Italy will be out, and the winners will be the fans the world over, except in France and Italy.
This is exactly why the NBA season was a complete snore fest this year. The exact same teams as usual went to semis and finals. Not so in this World Cup. It's a whole new ball game, and that is what's making it amazing to watch.

Slovakia as an independant country has her first WC debut. I think that is really important to them.

Well, as a basketball fan, I liked when Argentina won the world championship... even being Brazilian .. hehe
