...I had JUST killed the Corrupted Spider Queen. Alone. Because ALL of my companions had fallen.

...and then the game crashed.

I'm allowed to curse out loud in this case, right?

If you're having trouble with her (on Nightmare she's a real ****), then try switching to ranged attacks.  There's a lot of bosses that become much easier when you have one person to absorb damage and three others safely putting it out.

Yes, I feel you are perfectly justified in cursing at this point. I will mentally curse in solidarity with you as well (I am at work so I really can't curse out loud XD). I have had crashes at terrible times like that and I definitely curse loudly when it happens. Like the other night when it crashed right after saving Redcliffe village with only one of the generic militia guys dying >.>

Blood and damnation!

If you have any nature salves, they will ease the pain next time...

I would generally want to curse any time the game crashed, let alone after a lengthy or difficult battle. It's why I save so often, but even then crashes can creep in before I could get a save in. Fortunately, none happened right after a major battle. Feel your pain.

BG conditioned me to quick-save every other step because it would crash all the time, it's a painful lesson to learn but it's served me well.

Thanks for all the solidarity messages! Fortunately, the battle wasn't so hard, the second time around (thanks for the nature salve hint!).

BG did condition me to quick-save all the time, as well! So much so that I keep going for the Q key, instead of Esc, from time to time..

You can do an origins quick save with f4 and a load from quick save with f5. Much easier than escape/save game/type name/save.

Hmmm now that's an idea! I'd have to reassign some keys, though... I'm using f1 through f4 to select party members, but using f5 for quick save and f6 for loading sounds good!

I didn't know you could assign a quick-save key, thanks for the tip! :)

I shall use this thread for my ranting.

Just started to play KOTOR 1 yet again, all was fine until I got to the sith base on Taris.

So, i celan up the base, get to the elevator, and it crashes.

I am a patient guy, so I reload to the entrance to the base.

Yet again I get near the elevator, and just to be sure, I press F5 to quick save.

BUT, KOTOR is not DA:O, so F5 isn't quick save, IT'S QUICK LOAD.

Need I say that I rage quit in an instant?

On my 1st playthrough of Awakening, I get to the final boss and literally would have almost had it dead when the game would crash to desktop. It did this 16 freakin' times until I was able to actually kill it without crashing. Same great fun when trying to kill the Queen of the Blackmarsh.

And then of course once I did kill it, it gets stuck in an endless loop playing the final killing blow cinematic... gah, way to kill any emotional engagement there BioWare...

That is why 1.03 and Awakening are no longer on my system:wizard:

I support you in cursing at that. Game crashes are generally a justified swearing time. Because the game never crashes while you're wandering around town trying to get a new quest, or when you've just made a dumb decision and wonder if you should reload. No, games crash during boss fights, or long cutscenes, or right after you've been crafting the ultimate weapon but before the weapon is in your inventory.

My favorite freeze/ glitch was after battling Flemeth.
