Hi Miranda thread, just dropping in to show some support :)
I don't know why but her character really grew on me. She actually made me do a MaleShep playthrough just to see what her romance was like :P

Thank you, XxKarivexX. LOL....it seems to be the usual way to get to like Miranda: "I wasn't particularly excited at first, but she grew on me, and now she's my favorite".

I wonder how much of a minority I am - she's been my favorite right from the start. I knew I'd like her very much after the prologue at Lazarus station.

Just heard about the Liara DLC. Not that you guys care, but I'm squeeing like an idiot. I wonder if she'll be a temp squaddie and if I'll finally be able to fulfill my dream of her and Miranda fighting side by side in game?

tbh i coulda done without the "liara" dlc being real. bringing her to the forefront again, after the terrible comic, and given her out-of-character behaviour and bit-part in the main me2 game, seems illogical to me. especially as ashley/kaiden are yet to see anything, and they could have done dlc with your me2 LIs by now, too.

I still wonder why she is nice on the Normandy but out in the field she is cold and acts more like she was advertised.....

She's being civil on the Normandy and all business in the field.

Really, the question you should ask is, Paragade Shep, nice on the Normandy, badass on the field. Why?

Same reason.

I liked her from the first. In some ways, I like her more as she is in the prologue.

I prefer the Miranda pre-Normandy. I think she was more interesting then.

She was already interesting before, she's even more now.

I disagree, but it's a matter of opinion.

I think now we can see all aspects of her character and that's why it's more interesting.
I also prefer the new Miranda (she has not changed so much), and I hope we'll see the same character in ME3.

The prologue is where her ruthless streak is most dominant. She is going to ensure the success of the mission no matter what and regardless of her personal feelings for Shepard. And she just raised a man from the dead! That takes a certain brilliance/determination/god complex. She's like Frankenstein, only she takes responsibility for her Creature and isn't punished for "usurping nature." The game doesn't really touch on that aspect, but I find it the most interesting thing about her.

I found the unexplained transition to the Normandy friendliness jarring. It was as if there were two Mirandas, and the cold & fascinating Miranda had died with Freedom's Progress. I understand though, that this likely the fault of her writer changing hands.

I must be a minority. I liked miri from the start and she grew to be my favorite of my team. I have only done one mission, count it one, without her and that was. So I could see how the admiralty board dealy with an armed geth in their courtroom. And this was over 10 playthroughs

I'd imagine most of you guys are aware of this; but for those who aren't I figured I'd post this.

It's a guide through one of the conversations you have with Miranda that culminates in laying a kiss on her and its probably the best piece of romance dialogue in the whole game. It's easy to miss though since it entails making a few renegade dialogue choices (which a lot of you might have avoided since you don't want to insult Miranda). Even better the paragon dialogue it replaces is pretty damned corny. So if you haven't had the pleasure, give it a try.

I was just playing around with the
convos, but did anyone else know you can do this? Not directly after
her loyalty mission, but the next time you talk to her you can kiss her.
Here's how:

1) When she lists all the resources the Illusive Man
has provided you with, don't choose the "And you" option, choose "You
sound unhappy."

2) "You always bring that up."

3) "You're jealous."

I
won't spoil the rest, but it made her romance so much more awesome. I
love the different options aren't basically the same thing just with
different tone.

Now that I think about it, do they even kiss in the engine room?

In combat she's incredibly useful, particularly if you're a soldier (my favorite class) and she's definitely got some heavy feminine charm going for her.  But at the start of ME2 she comes of so ****y and domineering she's almost begging for a bullet in the head considering Shepard's history with Cerberus to the extent that on my first playthrough I figured I was probably going to have to off her by the end of the game (Cerberus can kiss my ass).  As soon as you get the Normandy she becomes a hell of alot more charming though and she just continues to grow more and more likeable the further you progess.

My favorite lines from Miranda happen to be some of her easier to miss lines particularly the dialogue I highlighted above and the telling off she gives to the Illusive Man if you bring her along for the final battle and insist on blowing up the station.

I like the resignation dialogue, but not the kiss. Too Han/Leia, only it lacks the witty banter and chemistry.

I like ****y and domineering, apparently. I like that she doesn't roll over for Shepard.

Do any of the LIs roll over for Shep?

Not really. It's just more noticeable with her because of her initial demeanor. Amd I sort of like her initial demeanor.

Oh, boy. This'll be fun.

Tali doesn't roll over. My last Shep all but got inti a shouting match with her during her romance. She's easily flustered, not spineless.
