Ieldra, I'll tweak the final draft to address your issue. I'm one of those "religious types" so I was wprried Miranda would come off as a straw atheist. Rough draft of the first chapter is almost done. Truth be told, this kind of thing interests me far more than straight romance.
She did come across rather convincing - she didn't address the issue before Mordin brought it up, and kept her mental commentary short. I'd drop the fire metaphor, though - that goes without saying and doesn't deserve the mention.
And I agree that dealing with the philosophical and social implications of Shepard's coming back from the dead is far more interesting than romance. IMO, romance adds spice to any story that's already good, but romance as the main plot isn't so interesting.
