It's interesting that there's no way to take Archer out, either by killing him or turning him in to the Alliance of C-Sec. Miranda's disbelief at Pragia, Overlord, and TIM's "betrayal" on the Collector ship make me wonder how much she'd actually seen before the Lazarus Project. She seems to have been sheltered from Cerberus' shadier side. I get the feeling it's not something she's had to deal with before, the difference between Miranda's "I want to use my gifts for the good of humanity" and TIM's "I will do whatever is necessary to advance humanity".

My problem with this whole setup is that some things TIM does aren't necessary to advance humanity. With being a little more careful, the results he wants could often be obtained by using less drastic methods. It would only take a little more time. That humanity doesn't have that time is a claim that doesn't deserve serious consideration - the other species have been in stagnation for thousands of years. The only short-term problem is the Reaper invasion, and  the Teltan facility is too old to have been created in response to that.

IMO, there's a long distance between a necessary evil and not caring a whit about individual humans while promoting the cause of humanity as a whole. I think Miranda is not only horrified at some of the methods used but begins to see the double standard applied here.

On a cheerier note, I'm mulling over the ficathon and deciding if asking for Miranda/Liara would be unreasonable.

I don't understand this ficathon thing. Is it something to get people who write fanfics together in order to motivate everything to write better and more stories? Is it some kind of contest? If it's the first, I'm thinking of taking part with a story I've begun but wasn't sufficiently motivated to finish, but I also don't know what the point of asking for something is? Are you limited to writing about stuff others ask for? Or is it just to prevent people from writing what nobody wants? Must things be romance-themed (in which case I won't take part)? Enlighten me!

I get the impression that it's meant to be a challenge type of thing. Instead of the challenge creator giving everyone a theme, you're instead paired up and each of you writes what your partner requests. Based on ones I've tried in the past, the only point of it is to help you improve your writing and have fun (I suspect in this one, the focus is more on the latter than the former). Apparently it's anything goes, romance, non-romance, slash, whatever floats your boat basically.

Cerberus seems to have an obsession with creating supersoldiers to protect humanity. Rachni, Thorian creepers, husks, Overlord-controlled geth... Miranda even asks, "How many lives would have been saved at Eden Prime if we had had even a dozen Rachni warriors?".

The problem with this argument is that the obvious solution is staring Shepard in the face almost the moment he awakes from his resurrection - mechs. As effective as a dozen Rachni warriors would be, would they really be that much better than a dozen YMIR mechs? It begs the question, "What is Cerberus really trying to do with all these enslaved creatures?"

I totally agree, in fact I knew from the first meeting that the character of TIM was so shady it was blatantly obvious to me that the ends justify any means to him, nothing matters as long as he "advances' humanity - but by what standards/whose opinion would he qualify those advancements, himself?

When Shepard even challenges him at the end of the game: Shep: "...Human dominance...or just Cerberus?" TIM: "Strength for Cerberus is strength for every human" - he (TIM) just becomes a typical megalomaniac who thinks he is always in the right whatever actions his group takes everyone will agree with. IMO, I felt that the best ending was the one that I wanted to take place, where Shepard says thanks and everything, you've given me the tools to succeed and now I can prove my worth to everyone (ie humanity) by using those tools in my own way.

Also, as I have said before I loved how cool Miranda is when she effectively gives TIM the finger in the collector base and allows Shepard to plant the bomb :D

The Illusive man knows what he’s doing. He is far more intelligent and skilful than we think. But I’m somewhat confused now after reading Mass Effect Retribution. After seeing kind of deceit he is capable of, but it was necessary. Now I don’t really know if his goal is human dominance or Cerberus dominance. Then again, His only human, he makes mistakes like everyone else.

And before this turns into a TIM debate,

Miranda is amazing, shes the only video game character who has that really cool persona.

I'm guessing you mean out of the characters in ME/ME2 right? I would say that Garrus and possibly Thane run her close in terms of a "cool persona" if you mean in terms of ability to survive under pressure and make decisions etc.

I see. Sounds interesting. Though, given the current list of participants, their preferences and mine, they'd probably pair me with jtav - which I wouldn't mind, only I don't feel so confident writing an F/F romance.

Never mind. Dan two-finger typing. Out of curiosity, Ieldra, what would you have requested.

"Teenage Miranda discovers a dark family secret", with Miranda, Niket and possibly her father playing a role. I may enter yet. There's still time to gather my courage....

Hey, I just noticed Joker's comment on Miranda's loyalty mission is weird.

"Hey, that's great about Miranda. Do you think now she'll loosen up a bit and... yeah, I can't even finish saying it."

What did he want to say? I have no idea....

What Joker trying to say is that she has to loose up her attitude from being cold-hearted strict to warm-hearted friendly. I think.

Ficathon? About Miranda? I wrote a short story about her. Do I post it here?

Not about Miranda. About Mass Effect characters. The link to the rules is posted somewhere on the last two pages.

And properly speaking, it's an exchange. Write a story. Get a story. Don't get your hopes up. Miranda isn't a popular character for fanfic. Even I'll probably end up writing one of the other characters.

Well, I'll just send a link to it. It deals with Miri's backstory and how her character integrates into Normandy. Give it a try; http://www.fanfictio...23061/1/Gravity

Great screenshots as always Yankee.

One thing I wish the game played up more than it does is that Miranda is really smart in addition to beautiful. I love watching brilliance in action.

To me there is no doubt that she is as smart as she is beautiful.

It's also a reason why I want her back as a squadmate in ME3, I want to see her in action. I don't want a static character.

Hey guys, I've got a question that's only tangentially related to Miranda. I'm writing a situation right now where Miranda deliberately causes Shepard to sleep in to annoy him (it's complicated). She's not going to use gas or injections because well, that'd be way too obvious. Would slightly decreasing the oxygen content of his room's air cause him to sleep more deeply?

Yes. To paraphrase MaleShep, she gives herself too little credit. If there's an option to gut her father, I'm taking it with pleasure. Or letting her do it. I haven't hated a fictional character this much since Ceresi Lannister. I want that man to die. (Says the woman planning on running a sociopathic Shep who only wants Miranda because she's the perfect woman")

Indeed. I'd want Miranda to resign as well, but if the price is making Shepard act stupid I won't do it.
