The Illusive man knows what he’s doing. He is far more intelligent and skilful than we think. But I’m somewhat confused now after reading Mass Effect Retribution. After seeing kind of deceit he is capable of, but it was necessary. Now I don’t really know if his goal is human dominance or Cerberus dominance. Then again, His only human, he makes mistakes like everyone else.

And before this turns into a TIM debate,

Miranda is amazing, shes the only video game character who has that really cool persona.

I'm guessing you mean out of the characters in ME/ME2 right? I would say that Garrus and possibly Thane run her close in terms of a "cool persona" if you mean in terms of ability to survive under pressure and make decisions etc.

Yea thats what i meant, Sorry I was supposed to say, she’s the coolest female character I’ve seen up until now, if you were to compare her coolness to male characters, there’s quite a few that’s up there, (like you said) Thane, Garrus. But everyone there has something to lose their cool over. I reckon the absolute coolest character is easily Kai Leng from Mass Effect Retribution.

I've been away from the Mass Effect threads for a long time, as I searched around I noticed the Tali thread was gone, and then I saw it had been locked! I let out an evil laugh for close to 20 minutes straight, and then proceeded to listen to the song sweet victory, because to me it felt like a great victory. I'm a Tali-hater I'll admit it, well I suppose that's not entirely true, I'm a Tali romance hater. Tali's character is fine, but her Shepard fan girl attitude is annoying and immature. God it's good to be a Miri fan, she has got to be one of the greatest female characters in the history of video games hands down.

Yes. To paraphrase MaleShep, she gives herself too little credit. If there's an option to gut her father, I'm taking it with pleasure. Or letting her do it. I haven't hated a fictional character this much since Ceresi Lannister. I want that man to die. (Says the woman planning on running a sociopathic Shep who only wants Miranda because she's the perfect woman")

People who write stories appear to have multiple personalities at times. Nothing to worry about. As for Miranda's father, I don't know what exactly he did so I can't hate him. And why would you hate Cersei Lannister more than, say, Gregor Clegane? Or Joffrey? Or Tywin Lannister (that's my preferred hate figure for what he did to...what was her name - Tysha)?

Back to the topic: For ME3, I'd like to follow up on this theme of Miranda giving herself too little credit. Dealing with her father would be nice, but I'd prefer it if she recovered her self-esteem independently from that. Make it so her father isn't a presence in her mind any more that influences how she feels about herself. Before we deal with the actual threat he represents. I can also imagine that he might feel somewhat conflicted about Miranda - after all, she did achieve remarkable things with his genetic setup. I just can't see him as the irredeemable monster. He'll probably have to die, but I can imagine something more akin to the Benezia/Liara scene in the end.

@langelog:
Please, no character hate here. And actually, the Tali fanbase has its own website now. You might think Bioware has done them a favor by locking the thread. Even done Miranda a favor, btw - I looked at the Miranda topic on their forum and most posts there are a lot more reasonable than what I had to read in the Tali thread (as of yesterday)

That's all a question over who'd make the best XO. As far as threads go, there is isn't much character hate flowing around. Which is a pleasant surprise.

Miranda is an excellent XO. She's the detail person who makes the trains run on time, as it were. Shepard figures out what they do. Miranda figures out how. She's also good for tempering/balancing Shepard's idealism and tendency to make emotion-based decisions. There was an excellent point on the thread, though. The two of them sleeping together is going to complicate the chain of command. If this were the "real world" I'd suggest one of them be reassigned, but I don't expect it to ever cause a problem in game terms.

Miranda is the most balanced person regarding skills need to be an XO. She can lead a fire team, she understands the ship, she understands Shepard and she most likely lead more team baed mission then anybody on the ship maybe even more than Shepard.

Also the XO does alot of admin and organization, who the hell do people think organized the upgrades to be installed? I wonder if any other squadmates would be able to handle the admin that Miranda most likely handles all the time!

Just caught up on the XO thread - good points Ieldra. IanPolaris' declamation that the FAQ is quote 'pro Miranda propaganda' quote, does amuse, especially considering the disclaimer you left.

I wonder how big the axe they're trying to grind is...

The funny thing is I agree Miranda's HR skills need serious work. Of all the squad members across both games, I think Kaidan is the best overall choice.

I've said what I had to say about the issue. The latter pages are all a matter of perspective. And Miranda's flaws (ie. her lack of people skills, etc) is part of the reason why she is so endearing to me, which, unfortunately, makes me a pretty bad Miranda advocator.

And would people stop it wit the exhibitionist claims? You can't see that particular spot from a window. I could see the thrill of having sex in a place she isn't supposed to and the possibility of being caught as hot for her but this marking her territory stuff is nonsene, though not quite as unsupported as I'd like.

I'm tired of the Miranda hate period. Think I'm going bonkers. I am so tired of visiting the Tali site and hearing this, "Engineered to be perfect? I prefer the perfect engineer" business.

Seriously, people, learn to support your own LI without putting down someone else's.

I like all three ladies and Liara. I find it a little sad that Tali and Jack fans can get along, but there's very little crossover between Miranda fans and the other two groups.

My LI is Thane. Do I count?

I've never heard you say a word against anyone's LI. Yes, you count.

I'd like to figure out why the hell the other LI fans hate Miranda so much. Is it because they perceive her as a threat where sweet Tali and tortured Jack aren't?

It's not just a matter of Miranda as a LI that creates so much furour...the impression I get from these boards is Miranda is one of those characters with supporters/dissenters split almost evenly down the middle on just about every aspect about her-- her physical looks, character, capabilities, yada yada. She's just the type that tends to evoke strong emotions either for or against her. In fact, you'd be hardpressed to find a person who doesn't feel a thing about her.

Kudos to Bioware for creating such an engaging character, but in the meantime, these threads will just keep coming in.

She does polarize, that's for sure. You hardly know whether to deck her or hug her.

That's why I think she's a fun character.

She does seem to get a lot of hate around the BSN, though.

Oh, agreed. I doubt I'd still be here if she didn't stir up such conflicting emotions. Though I am beginning to lose my nerve regarding killing her.

Indeed, Miranda is a focus for a lot of antipathy and outright hatred on the forum. Wish I knew why, but I guess each person who hates her does so for some personal reason, or they have an axe to grind.

Shame, really.
