If that's true then it was a mistake. They shouldn't of put something like that in unless there was good science to back it up.

and being able to conceive "with" other species would be examples.

You can't conceive with other species. And the offspring of asari are 100% asari.

Hence the quotations. The fact that mind mating with another species alters the genetic code of the asari offspring (though in an indirect way) was my meaning.

I feel ya. I'm just saying they need to explain why this is a problem that can't be solved with the technology they have. Make me believe it you know? And I also want to note that mind control and mind reading are possible and is backed up by modern science. It's far from perfect but it exist.

I've been thinking about the iPartners thing. I don't find the speculation that she was attempting to conceive convincing. It's heavily implied these conversations took place during ME2. She knows she'll likely die before the child could even be born. It's extremely likely she just wanted sex after two years of enforced celibacy. However, she can't afford to become attached to a romantic partner (her impending death again). She has too much self-respect to hire someone, and she does have standards, so she goes about finding a partner in the most clinical way possible to minimize the chance of attachment. It may or may not be indicative of her usual dating practices. I'm inclined to believe she usually cares a bit more about her partner's personality, even with casual sex.

Hello. I'm sorry; I've only read the first, and last two pages of the thread (not enough time on my hands or patience to read through all 220 pages, though I'm sure it's good reading.)

What is this I hear that Miranda can't have kids, and why? Can someone kindly explaign it to me?

The one concerning the Shadow Broker? No I have not, but I don't mind it being spoiled for me. Not sure when or if I'll play it.

First off you need to play it because it's amazing. Second the Shadow Broker has dossiers on everybody including Miranda. In them she got an email from Illium Medical Center, Prenatal Care Department
saying

All she is interested in are these men's medical records. This is telling.

If she was interested in a good screw free of attachments she'd ask for body shots instead.

Hey guys! Show your love for Miranda and vote in the Mass Effect Character Survey, now in its fifth iteration! Link to poll and instructions are here.

Also, thanks to the new user-verification, it will be the most accurate character survey yet!

Thanks for the info. I do wish to play all the DLC's. My friend only recently got me into the ME series and I am now hooked. Hoping and praying for more cash flow my way to make it happen.

Now I feel sorry and upset for her. Possibly all this is caused from what was done when her father created her?

For me, all the more reason to stay loyal to her...

True Night, but the point still stands. If she was trying to conceive, she was going about it in a very stupid way. There's no guarantee even a fertile woman would conceive after one encounter. A sperm bank would give her more information. Not to mention, she's on a suicide mission. Not the time to have kids.

I'm not saying she was trying to conceive.

I merely protest the notion she does this just for some sex. Seems weird. Her way of finding sex partners is asking them for their medical records? She dismisses men who have what sound like mild physical ailments - that happened four years ago?

@ Elyvern - That was a good read, I really want to see where you take this. I don't usually think of Shepard as a Paragon(too superhero-ish), but yours works well. I like that you got his first name right too .

Miranda's digging up the medical records of her random sex partners was confusing. On the one hand, as jtav points out, Miranda isn't stupid enough to seriously think this is a good way to go about trying to conceive. On the other, unless she was checking for STDs, perfectly clean medical records shouldn't be a big concern for a one night stand.

My very flimsy attempt at rationalizing it is that Miranda's slight  OCD (not canon, but I think she's a little OCD) compels her to perfectionism in everything - even things that don't matter. It could also be a holdover from her days living under the thumb of her father. Her father would likely have screen potential dates or even platonic companions the same way, to avoid exposing his daughter to "contamination". Miranda may be continuing this practice out of habit. She does seem to have an obsessive need to know everything about everyone she comes into contact with.

What I think is..... Miranda is looking for a perfect human, probably something to do with "she is a barren woman". May be she wants that medical records for some kind of testing...

I'm just trying to avoid the "she accepts nothing but the best, even for sex" explanation, as that would crush me.

Was anyone else hoping for some romance-specific information in her dossier? Like, I don't know, finding out her iPartners subscription had gotten canceled? Maybe Oriana asking Miranda if she was still with that cute commando guy? A "don't act like you don't like him" line or two? Maybe I'm just being silly hoping for that...

If it was just about sex, she would have never asked you to promise not to die. You have no worries.

Yeah, if it was a fling she wanted, she would have seduced you with no hesitation or worries about getting her heart broken. And Shep tells a third party he cares about her. It's not a fling now, if it ever was.

Don't worry, Miri's romance is NOT a one nighter. If it was, she wouldn't give a flying s#it about whether or not you survived and she wouldn't have asked you not to die. That proves she is in love with you. As if though Miranda's concern about her sister and her insecurity weren't enough to make me a Mirimancer for life, bioware threw that convo in.
