Now you're overdramatizing things. That line may not be your preferred response, and I recognize why, but Shepard's not a jerk in that conversation.Yannkee wrote...

Sorry, but I have no respect for a guy who would tell something like that to Miranda at that particular moment.

Reminder: this is not meant to be taken seriously, and it isn't taken seriously. You make too much of things. For me, this light response, coming right after "I care about you, Miranda", is going a step back, telling her she's free to interpret things as not going too deep if she prefers, but he'd rather have it otherwise (as he said before). It gives her the freedom to make her decision based on how she feels herself, without any influence by Shepard, while the other response builds pressure to accept what he and she feel.Yannkee wrote...

It's Miranda who first talk about love. Shepard knows she wouldn't use this word if she doesn't want a deep relationship with him. Miranda shows her emotions and it's not something she do easily, Shepard should do the same. Talking about his feelings doesn't mean he's putting pressure on her. She's free to decide, but I think she deserves to know what he feels for her.
I wouldn't mind if he did this kind of joke before, but not when Miri shows emotional vulnerability. I think it's absolutely stupid.

I thought the Love? line was, in addition to everything else I've said about it was actually pretty damn flirty as well that was a sly but gently persuasive for things to progress.
And, because the whole cheeky, cocky routine works in the real life, it's all that more poignant. Does anyone actually say "I love you" to a woman they have only known for a couple of months and then have a successful relationship with them? I'm going to guess; it's exceptionally rare if it does.

Don't make the mistake of mixing up the conversations. The kiss and "stop smiling, damn it" is in conversation 3, "Who said anything about love?" in conversation 4. I've made that mistake often, unfortunately. In intro to the kiss is "You're jealous", which isn't really something I prefer to the alternative but choose it because it leads to the options I favor.
ah yes - actually i like the teasing too - again, very natural. one of the reason's Miranda's romance works so well for me is the natural flow to them, especially (and unusually) with the renegade conversation options.

Miranda is actually still pretty talkative even if you don't romance her. All the character moments that made me fall in love with her are not romance-exclusive. I can have everything I love about her and still romance someone else. I feel she comes off better if you don't romance her.
Miranda would remain my favorite character if Shepard didn't romance her, but I would miss one of the most interesting part of her character. I prefer Miranda when Shepard romance her, it shows an another side of her character, one I really like.
They are just perfect for each other, and no other LI could fit for my Shepard.
My Shepard can't be with someone else.

Oh I loved that scene... "Stop smiling, damn it." hahaha.
I think Shepard has a sense of humour and it works for the regenage playthrough... Last night I just finished the part where they get the krogan "Grunt" from the Blue Sun's base... In the communication center, my Shepard was being funny with Miranda's concerns. The option... we will just jet him out the airlock... and when she says what if somone is down there..." He still has that look as if he is joking to me... he asks EDI how many more people we have on Normandy. I thought it was funny...
When my Shepard converses with the injured blue sun and saying his injury was worse than it really was. Miranda liked it. "Nice touch." He replies: I thought so.
Jack's cracks me up when I told Miranda to give jack the files. "Hear that precious..." ROFL.... I then reloaded and denied Jack the files. he he.
God, I love this game!

So, supposing you're developing Miranda for ME3 (i.e., writing her) what sort of things would you do to her to make her a richer character and why? This can include romance or friendship progression.
I would give more informations about her past, when she was working for Cerberus and before.
And also more personal informations about her, but this should be only available for those who romanced her.

Yankee, we've established I'm a bit of an oddball. I eat up Thane's and Liara's romance. Most of you don't. Miranda's romance doesn't appeal to me. It was never designed to. I still like her.

I'd focus on her coming to terms with her origins, dealing with the ghost of her father she carries around in her mind and possibly even the real man, and making her recognize that she's not a freak of nature, but in fact, an entirely human woman regardless of her origins. That's appropriate for a romance-specific development, I think.Arijharn wrote...

For a romance-independent development, I'd like her to deal with her Cerberus loyalty one way or the other. Making her take TIM's place in a somewhat "reformed" Cerberus would be one option within that path. I'd also like her to keep contact with Oriana, but apart from that wouldn't introduce more family matters.
